News About Our Service Men 3D DIV., GERMANY — Army PFC Gary E. Wiethorn, son of Mrs. Marguerite A. Wedel, 316 S. East St., Anaheim, recently participated in a three-week simulated combat maneuver with the 3d Infantry Division's 38th Infantry in Germany. Wiethorn, a radio operator in Company C of the infantry, entered the Army in February 1957 and received basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. He arrived in Europe last March. The 19-year-old soldier is a 1956 graduate of Anaheim Union High School. SAN DIEGO — Maruis J. Campe, apprentice petty officer first class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Campe of 229 Glencrest Ave., Anaheim, graduated June 6 from Recruit Training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. Apprentice petty officers are chosen from the ranks of the seaman recruits to assist Company Commanders. The selection is based on individual aptitude and leadership qualities. FORT BRAGG, N. C. — Army Pvt. LeRoy A. Pearson, whose wife, Dorothy, lives at 422 S. Vine St., recently arrived at the U. S. Military Academy at West N.Y., where he will serve instructor during the months.
