Thomas G. Sherwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Sherwood of Midway Trailer Court, Anaheim, took part in "Operation Strongback" in the Philippine Islands with the 3rd Battalion of the 1st Marine Division's 1st Regiment, during the first week in March. The battalion arrived in the Philippines Feb. 9 to set up defenses, and acted as "enemy" forces against the attacking 3rd Division. The Leathernecks are scheduled to return to Camp Pendleton, Calif., in mid-April. CAMP PENDLETON — James R. Myers, hospital corpsman third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Myers of 1143 W. South St., Anaheim, graduated Feb. 14 from a four-week course at the Field Medical Service School at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. The course covers the use of field facilities and field medical supplies and includes training and technical aspects of combat and emergency medicine. LOS ALAMITOS — Master Sgt. Irving T.
