Events in 1957 (Continued from Page 1) Anaheim city councilman and contractor, Rex Coons, has challenged the city treasurer's office on collection of contractor license fees, stating that teh city ordinance needed "a lot of revision to keep up with the growth of the city." October 1957 During the month of September 278 building permits were issued with a total valuation of $3,153,040. The Automobile Club of Southern California held official opening ceremonies for its new $70,000 district office at 819 South Palm. Wally Boag, top comic of Disneyland's Pepsi-Cola Golden Horseshoe Revue was master of ceremonies at Anaheim's 34th Halloween Festival breakfast. November 1957 Anaheim received $20,586.89 as contributions from "AID" Group. Joseph M. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Carroll who died a number of years ago, died at his home at the age of 78. He had spent his entire life as an Orange County rancher. Heavy winds caused much damage in Orange County during the Thanksgiving season. The Orange County Medical Association agreed to "bolt" the state medical aid for the needy program. The doctors claim "red tape" is hindering their efficiency and they will continue to treat those eligible for state welfare treatment free. "It simply means we won't have the state selling us a socialized bill of sale", Everett Bannister, secretary for the association, said.
