Anaheim city councilman and contractor, Rex Coons, has challenged the city treasurer's office on collection of contractor license fees, stating that teh city ordinance needed "a lot of revision to keep up with the growth of the city."

During the month of September 278 building permits were issued with a total valuation of $3,153,040.
The Automobile Club of Southern California held official opening ceremonies for its new $70,000 district office at 819 South Palm.
Wally Boag, top comic of Disneyland's Pepsi-Cola Golden Horseshoe Revue was master of ceremonies at Anaheim's 34th Halloween Festival breakfast.

Joseph M. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Carroll who died a number of years ago, died at his home at the age of 78. He had spent his entire life as an Orange County rancher.
Heavy winds caused much damage in Orange County during the Thanksgiving season. Awnings were damaged and some plate glass store windows were blown.

Orange County Rhinos, semi-professional football team which played in the La Palma stadium each Sunday afternoon, ended the season with a 11-4 won-lost record.
The death of Frank Rospaw, publisher of the Placentia Courier since 1928, came as a shock to his many friends in Orange County.
"The Messiah" under the direction of Eugene Ober, was presented by the Anaheim Symphony Orchestra and the Anaheim Choraleers in the high school auditorium.
The Orange County Medical Association agreed to "bolt" the state medical aid for the needy program. The doctors claim "red tape" is hindering their efficiency and they will continue to treat those eligible for state welfare treatment free. "It simply means we won't have the state selling us a socialized bill of sale", Everett Bannister, secretary for the association, said.

According to an announcement by Congressman James B. Utt applications are being accepted for a Substitute Clerk Carrier in the Post Office at Anaheim. The salary is listed at $1.82 an hour.
In order to apply, applicants should secure Form 5000-AB from the Post Office at Anaheim, fill it out and submit it to the Examiner-in-Charge, Board of U. S. Civil Service Examiners at the Post Office in Santa Ana. Applicants will then be notified of the exact time and place to report for the written test.
FORT CAMPBELL, KY—Army Sgt. Abraham B. Stanton, 23 son of Mrs. Pearl Ruth Stanton, 1302 Crowe Ave., Anaheim, is participating as a mock enemy soldier in a 16-day simulated combat maneuver at Fort Bragg, N.C. Sergeant Stanton is regularly assigned as a forward observer in Company E of the 501st Infantry at Fort Campbell, Ky.
