Co. Industries Hiring North American Men
"Industrial executives of Orange County, which is becoming the "Electroplics Center of the World," are trying to find employment for as many as possible of the North American Aviation employees being laid off at nearby Downey, a survey conducted by Orange County Industrial News and released from its headquarters in Santa Ana revealed today.
"Several hundred North American employees will be placed immediately in Orange County plants, and it is quite likely that within a few months several thousand will have found jobs here—in electronics plants and other industries." Worth Bernard, publisher of Industrial News, forecast after interviews with officials of 15 Orange County firms and officials of the California State Department of Employment.

"several hundred" applications have been filed this week at various Orange County electronic firms from Fullerton to Newport Beach, the survey showed. An Anaheim plant had so many applicants on Tuesday that interviewing took place in the parking lot.
This week the employment managers of a number of Orange County plants have been over at the North American Downey plant interviewing employees directly.
Private employment agencies throughout the county have been "extremely active" this week, the Industrial News survey showed.
Problems of County Poultrymen to be Discussed July 30
Due to the crisis in the poultry industry, a meeting of representatives of the 20 large poultry producing states was held in Washington, D.C. this year to study the problems confronting the industry. At this meeting the United States Poultry and Egg Association was formed. They were entrusted with the task of drafting legislation to combat mass overproduction.
A bill to provide for stabilizing the broiler and egg industries by instituting a program for marketing regulations has been completed. This bill is now in the hands of Senate and House Agricultural Committees.
Robert W. Scott, Haw River, N.C. was elected president of the USDA.
7 Anaheim Men On 2 Weeks Of Reserve Duty
Seven Anaheim Men Reserves, among more than two weeks of active duty men, are currently unavailable at the Marine Corps Air Station, Mojave, with Air Reserve Fighter Squad 241. The more than 300 men normally trained at Alamitos Naval Air Station Anaheim men are Maj. A. Dow, 743 N. Janss Squad Capt. John Cosmos, 1116 court Ave., both jet pilot Sgt. Louis A. Fechter Trenton Dr., an ordnance Staff Sgt. Darwin E. Varsky, 2111 Coronet Avenue Sgt. Marvin L. Miller, 988 vest Lane, Sgt. Patrick O'Doyle, 11872 Poes St., all jet airports, and Staff Sgt. Rob Sparks, 1775 Laurel Phantomman.
The majority of the men have had to completely their living habits during maneuvers, which will occur Aug. 3. Due to high temperatures, which often near the 100 mark even on the night, the work days at 4 a.m. and ends shortly noon. Later in the day, school and other training requirements are carried out some individuals working as as 14 hours a day.
The units at the Mojave airport are equipped with 49 wing Cougar jet fighters.

A bill to provide for stabilizing the broiler and egg industries by instituting a program for marketing regulations has been completed. This bill is now in the hands of the Senate and House Agricultural Committees.
Robert W. Scott, Haw River, N.C. was elected president of the USPEA. He is a son of Senator Scott of N.C. and also operates a poultry farm himself. Since he has been active in the work of this organization from its beginning, he no doubt can better explain the bill and the work of this organization to the public than any other person.
Arrangements have been made for Mr. Scott to meet with poultrymen of southern California. Meetings are being held in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County. The Orange County Poultry Producers Association is sponsoring the meeting in Orange County. Poultrymen from Orange County and all nearby areas are invited, the meeting to be held Tuesday, July 30, at 8 p.m. at Fremont Junior High School, 608 W. Center Street, Anaheim.
Every effort is being made to secure a speaker who will be able to give the opposition viewpoint. Opportunity will be given to all present to ask questions.

7 Anaheim Men On 2 Weeks Air Reserve Duty
Seven Anaheim Marine Air Reserves, among more than 300 men, are currently undergoing two weeks of active duty training at the Marine Corps Auxiliary Air Station, Mojave, with Marine Air Reserve Fighter Squadron 241. The more than 300 officers and men normally train at Los Alamitos Naval Air Station. The Anaheim men are Maj. Russell A. Dow, 743 N. Janss St., and Capt. John Cosmos, 11162 Harcourt Ave., both jet pilots; Master Sgt. Louis A. Fecher, 1312 Trenton Dr., an ordnanceman; Staff Sgt. Darwin E. Van Steenwyk, 2111 Coronet Ave., Staff Sgt. Marvin L. Miller, 9872 Harvest Lane, Sgt. Patrick O. Fogarty, 11872 Poes St., all jet mechanics, and Staff Sgt. Robert F. Sparks, 1775 Laurel Pl., Ordnanceman.

Due to the high desert temperatures, which often hover near the 100 mark even through the night, the work day begins at 4 a.m. and ends shortly after noon. Later in the day, ground school and other training requirements are carried on, with some individuals working as much as 14 hours a day.

Fuchsia Society Plan Potluck For Next Meeting
The regular July meeting of the Orange County Branch of the California National Fuchsia Society will be a potluck supper in La Palma Park, Anaheim, on Tuesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. James Parks, 2143 Hiawatha St., Anaheim is in charge of supper arrangements.
James W. Peters of the Lakewood Area Branch will be the speaker. His subject will be "Fuchsias," for which he is well qualified, being the owner of the Ramona Gardens in Bellflower where he grows fuchsias exclusively.
Orange County Branch members are urged to make individual entries in the Midsummer Fuchsia and Shade Plant Show in Inglewood on Aug. 3 and 4. Entries may be made all day Friday, Aug. 2, and until noon on Saturday. Orange County Branch will enter a 'Natural Area' in the Branch displays, Mrs. Margaret E. Jackson is show chairman for Orange County.
At the July 30 meeting there will be the usual plant exchange and everyone, guests as well as members, are invited to bring a "dish," their table service, and attend the potluck supper.
"CALEXICANS" TO PICNIC
More than 400 former Calexico citizens from all over California are expected to attend the sixth annual picnic on Sunday, July 28, at Balboa Park, Sixth Avenue and Maple Street, San Diego. Harry E. Bowman, leader for the event, urges all former residents of that city attend this get-together.
BLOOD PLASMA is supposedly given to a "hospital patient" moved out of Binghamton, N.Y., during the simulated medical exercise which accompanied the civil defense "Evac 12" evacuation test in May. Sixty-four "litter patients" were given simulated treatments just as they would be if they were in an emergency hospital when nuclear attack threatened, or in the aftermath of such an attack on the United States.
