John O. Taylor Claimed by Death
John O. Taylor passed away at his home in Garden Grove on Wednesday of last week, July 10. He was born in Georgia 82 years ago and came to California in 1940.
Survivors are two nephews, Thomas V. Taylor, a member of the Anaheim Police Dept., and Dan O. Taylor of Anaheim, and a niece, Mrs. Clara Moore of Fullerton.
Funeral services were held last Saturday, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Kugler, pastor of the Free Family Picnic for Optimists This Eve
The members of Anaheim Optimist Club and their families will hold their family picnic this evening. Thursday, at La Palma Park. The evening is to begin at 6:30. Food arrangements are being made by the Opti-Mrs. Club. Drinks and ice cream will be furnished.
At the regular meeting last Thursday evening, Les Mitchell gave a report on the District Convention held recently at Disneyland Hotel. Nick Tankersley also reported that the fireworks stand netted a nice profit for the club.
A joint meeting on July 25 with the Opti-Mrs. Club is planned.

County GOP to Picnic July 24th
Orange County Republicans will hear State Controller Robert C. Kirkwood when they gather for a "Grand Old-fashioned Party barbecue" in Lake Park, Huntington Beach at 5:30 Wednesday evening, July 24.
The midsummer political rally is sponsored by Republican Associates of Orange County, L. D. Fedderman, Associates chairman, extended an invitation to all county citizens interested in supporting Republican Party principles.
Mrs. Evelyn Gardiner of Newport Beach is county chairman for the program. Information and tickets may be secured from Republican Associates at 118 South Los Angeles in Anaheim, PRospect 4-5825.
COMPLETES SCHOOL
Navy Ens. Jerry F. Farrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Farrow of 11171 Tonia Lane, Anaheim, and husband of the former Miss Alice M. Martin of Garden Grove, completed Navy Supply Corps School at Athens, Ga., on July 27. Graduates are qualified for Supply Corps duties afloat and ashore.

A very pleasant visit was enjoyed at the Optimist Boys Home last Sunday evening when all the presidents of this district Optimist Clubs and Opti-Mrs. Clubs were entertained at a dinner.
'Y' Dance Classes Are Underway Here
"It was lots of fun dancing on the 'cool patio'" was the typical expression from the young couples participating last Thursday in the first instruction class with Weldon O'Toole, master of the various American and Latin dancing steps. The classes held at the Anaheim YMCA was the first of a series of nine lessons being offered at special reduced rates.
The class is still open to a few more persons who would like to participate in this new activity. The time is 8 p.m., each Thursday at the YMCA, 121 S. Citron Street, Anaheim. Additional information may be obtained by phoning the YMCA, KE 5-2165 or Mrs. Betty Holden, chairman of the activity for the 'Y' Wives, sponsors of the event, at KE 5-0439.
Local 'Y' Club Institute New San Diego Club
Approximately 200 persons attended the chartering ceremony of the Downtown San Diego Y's Men's Club on Saturday, June 29. The theme for the event, which was sponsored by the Anaheim Y's Men's Club, was in keeping with the San Diego Fiesta celebration and was held in the new Coplay Branch YMCA.
James Abrecht, president of the Anaheim Y's Men's Club, presided and served as master of ceremonies. District Governor Dee Johnson, of Fullerton, installed the following officers of the new club: President, Stanley W. Murdock; Vice President, Norman Wainwright; Secretary, Ronald E. Cunningham; Treasurer, William Sipple; and board members, David Oliver, George B. Harris and J. Morrison Riddle.
International Director Harmon Wilkinson presented the charter to President Murdock. The sponsoring club presented pins, a banner, a gavel and several other pieces of equipment to the new group in order to help the club off to a good start.
Traveling to San Diego from Anaheim to assist Abrecht in the organization of the new Y's Men's chapter were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Flickinger, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Loop, Mr. and Mrs. Bill West, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burford, Mr. and Mrs. John Shea, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brookman, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Birthday Party for L. Frank Kellogg
Mrs. Helen Kellogg Aubin of 122 Orange Avenue in Santa Ana, was among the guests that gathered to honor her son's birthday, L. Frank Kellogg of this city, who was 57 years old. Born in Honolulu, he spent his first year there. His father, the late H. Clay Kellogg, an engineer, dammed up the rivers and streams on that island for the uses of irrigation and domestic use. These reservoirs are in use today.
In recalling her life in the islands, Mrs. Aubin said upon arriving back in 1800, they spent their first night in Pearl Harbor and survived the worst storm ever experienced there. Twenty-seven inches of rain fell during the month of February.
When they were to return home again, they were scheduled to return on the Rio de Janeiro bus missed their boat. Due to a storm the setamship went on the rock outside the Golden Gate on the mainland, killing all persons on board.
Among the guests arriving for the recent party was a son, Dr Wm. Clay Kellogg, his wife and two small sons from Honolulu. Among the many gifts he received was a portable electric fan and a miniature travelling radio.

and members of their families attended the first annual Family Festival for Hallamore Electronics Company employees held last Saturday, July 13, at Disneyland's Holidayland, the affair starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until 10 p.m.

With the starting date less than a month away, team entries are increasing daily. Adding to an earlier announcement of 22 teams are two teams of American Legion Junior Baseball who will be playing for their first time in this 12th annual invitational American Legion Junior Baseball tournament played at Anaheim's La Palma Park Stadium, that starts on Monday night, August 12.
Newcomers are Pomona and Pacific Beach, other recent entries are: Alhambra, Monterey Park, Pasadena, El Monte, Alta-dena, Vista, Inglewood, Burbank, Glendora, Westchester, So.-Los Angeles, Westwood-Bruin and Colton.
