Altec Lansing Host Japanese At left is G. L. Carrington, president of Altec Lansing Corporation, who conducted a Japanese Study Team through Altec's Anaheim plant. Next to Carrington is C. R. Rinnsland, comptroller for Altec Companies, Inc. Center is Toshiire Otsuka, interpreter, and Nozuma Matsumoto, team leader. The 12 man group of Japanese manufacturers left Altec Lansing Corporation for lunch at Disneyland and then to another plant in Anaheim. They will be in the United States until June 21, studying American business and manufacturing methods. A 12 man Japanese Electric Communication Equipment Study Team, Firday, began a six week tour of United States electric communications industry. First stop of the group was the Altec Lansing Corporation in Anaheim, California. Under the auspices of the International Cooperation Administration, a division of the State Department, the team toured the Altec plant under the direction of G. L. Carrington. were afforded a close view of personnel administration, general characteristics of Altec Lansing Corporation, technical problems, sales and accounting methods. Another new experience for the Japanese manufacturers was the introduction of the early morning coffee break. Carrington, midway through his initial presentation of the plant asked if they would like to see and participate first hand in a coffee break. The production and office workers. Ending their tour in Washington, D.C., June 21, they will return to their respective firms in Japan and will make recommendations for improvements based on observations in this country that appear adaptable to Japanese conditions.
