3. Anaheim Gazette Anaheim, Calif., Thurs., May 20, 1907 Anaheim to Get KLAC Radio Salute The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce has proclaimed the week of June 3 through June 8, "KLAC Week" in Anaheim, in conjunction with radio station KLAC's "Salute to Anaheim" this same week. The station will broadcast progress reports, facts and civic information through their Big Five Disc jockeys 24 hours a day. In an effort to familiarize Anaheim residents, as well as all southern California, with one of the country's fastest growing communities. The radio station will feature salutes to Anaheim's leading citizens and civic leaders, who have recorded special interviews. Alternate newscasts, heard hourly on KLAC will feature past and present growth data and general facts about Anaheim. All Anaheim merchants will display KLAC signs calling attention to station's special week in conjunction with city's "Centennial Days." Felix Adams, General Manager of KLAC, explains that "we initiated our 'Salute to a City' campaign to familiarize southern California residents with not only their own cities and towns, but with neighboring communities. It is with great pleasure on our part that we are able to 'salute' a thriving friendly community like Anaheim." Local Sales Tax Adds $32,421 More The State Board of Equalization today certified to Controller Robert C. Kirkwood the sum of $4,509,165 for distribution to 2 counties and 195 of their cities for which it collected local sales and use taxes in the first quarter of 1957. Most of this total represents receipts from February sales by taxpayers who report their tax liabilities once a month. The sum also includes a relatively minor amount of taxes received in earlocation to local governments plus collection periods with insufficient information to warrant alsome penalties and interest on unreported or underreported taxes. The city of Anaheim, which is being allocated $32,421.45 in the current distribution, has received $655,164.12 to date. The current allocation — the eleventh in the series — brings to more than $97,732,000 the distributions of state-administered local sales and use taxes Board statisticians predicted that at the next distribution, which will be made in mid-June, the total local revenues from this source will approach $125,000,000. The three largest participants in the current distributions are the City of Los Angeles, the County of of Los Angeles, and the City of San Diego, which are receiving $1,240,170, $381,846, and $168,263, respectively, in the current allocation. Their incomes under the program thus far amount to $31,-731,052, $9,625,272, and $2,049,272, and $2,949,682, respectively. GM Employees Get Wage Boost A wage increase of at least six cents an hour for 350,000 Gen- GM Employees Get Wage Boost A wage increase of at least six cents an hour for 350,000 General Motors hourly rate employees will go into effect May 29 as part of the company's wage formula which has added upwards of 68 cents an hour to employees' base pay since 1948, President Harlow H. Curtice announced today. The new wage increase marks the tenth successive year that GM employees in the United States have received a wage increase through the "annual improvement factor" part of the wage formula which has been part of union agreements since 1948. It amounts to six cents an hour or 2½ per cent, whichever is greater. Of the 68 cents an hour added to their base hourly rate, the annual improvement factor part has meant wage rate increases of at least 46 cents an hour. Another 22 cents an hour in cost-of-living allowances have been "frozen" into the base rate. In addition to their base wage rates, employees currently are receiving 14 cents an hour cost-of-living allowance which is adjusted quarterly in line with changes in the Consumer Price Index of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The cost of living allowance will be reviewed again in June. ark—Disneyland—which apin in the current issue of Magazine. article details many of the tions of Disneyland in each "lands" which comprise happiest playground of them A series of photographs ilite the story.
