He bested a field of 93 competitors in a three-round tournament. Christie's topic was "World Peace" and his talk is scheduled for publication in the DeMolay "World Magazine." MacMillan and Company, publishers, awarded him $100 for publication rights. A sophomore at Fullerton JC Christie is competing in college level oratory for the first time. Earlier this year he won a second-place award in eastern conference oratory competition with the same speech. Next year he intends to enroll at Stanford University. A second Fullerton JC student Venita Roe, enters the southern California division of the Native Daughters of the Golden West oratorical contest this week en in San Diego. If she is successful there, she will be flown, a expenses paid, to San Francisco for the finals. Miss Roe, a veteran orator, has twice captur-women's division in east- PINEAPPLE CHIFFON CAKE 2¼ cups sifted cake flour 1½ cups sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder ½ cup salad oil 5 egg yolks 4¼ cup unsweetened pineapple juice 1 cup egg whites (about 7) ½ teaspoon cream of tartar Preheat oven to 325°F. (moderate). Sift flour, sugar, bain-powder and salt into a bowl. Make a well in the center and add oil, egg yolks and pineapple juice. Beat with a spoon until mixture is smooth and creamy. Whip egg whites and cream of tartar until very stiff peaks form. (Whites should be stiffer than for meringue.) Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over egg whites, gently folding together with a spatula. Pour into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Bake 55 minutes; increase oven temperature to 350°F. (moderale) and continue to bake 10 to 15 minutes. Cake is done if top springs back when lightly touched with the finger. Remove cake from oven and invert pan over a funnel or large bottle. Cool completely. Cut around side and center of cake with a thin spatula. OVEN-FRIED CHICKEN 4 cups corn flakes 1 egg 1 tablespoon milk 2 teaspoons salt ½ teaspoon pepper 2½-3 pound frying chicken 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted Crush corn flakes into medium flue crumbs. Combine egg, milk, salt and pepper. Dip chicken pieces into egg mixture; roll in corn flakes crumbs. Place in greased shallow pan or casserole. Sprinkle with melted butter. Bake in moderate oven (350°F.) about 30 minutes. Turn chicken and bake about 30 minutes longer or until tender. Speeding was blamed for 13,-830 deaths on U.S. highways in 1956.
