HOUSE PAINTS THAT LAST YEARS LONGER, superstrong light-weight luggage, improved fibre-glass fishing rods and boats . . . these are some of the things that will come from Isophthalic*, a new petrochemical from Standard laboratories. Even though its possibilities have only-begun to be explored, we have invested in a multi-million dollar plant to make Isophthalic.
We're convinced it will make as important a change in your life as detergents, wrinkle-resistant fabrics and other modern wonders whose basic materials were products of Standard research.

An unprecedented storm raged this week from Siskiyou to San Diego. The furious gusts of wind tore the fruit and leaves from the orange trees, but the strangest and most unnatural circumstance of all was the choking of the Anaheim ditch by snow. The most vivid imagination would never have ventured to predict the stoppage of the flow of water in the irrigation ditches by a gorge of snow. But it so happened. When the Zanjero investigated he found nearly two miles of ditch filled with snow, the water being too cold to melt it. The blockade continued from Friday until Monday.
The scarcity of geese has been remarked by Anaheim hunters this season. They are all in the San Jonquin Valley doing great damage to the young wheat. They destroy thousands of bushels every day.

Mr. C. Reorden of Orangethorpe died on Friday of pneumonia superinduced by a cold contracted nine days before while irrigating. He leaves a wife and family who have the sympathy of the community.

It snugs the car to the road. How it cuts down the sidesway. How it gives you the safe-and-sure-footed steadiness of four wheels always on the road.
That's because these sweet-handling, sweet-riding beauties give you the lowest center of gravity in Buick annals — born of a brilliantly engineered new chassis that "nests" your ride low and steady as you gq.
But the core of this new Buick's story is the action you get.
You get action that stems from the instant response of an advanced new Variable Pitch Dynaflow* so able and obedient and full-range in "Drive," even without a switch of the pitch, that the need for "Low" is virtually eliminated.
And it's action that's sparked by a brilliant new V8 engine of 364-cubic-inch capacity, of record-high horsepower and compression, and of almost complete freedom from vibration.
