Toys for Tots Campaign to Begin Dec. 1 Toys for Tot's, the Marine Corps Reserves' annual Christmas campaign conducted for the benefit of needy children, will officially commence on Dec. 1. In 1955 Marine Corps Reserve Units throughout the United States collected over five million toys for this worthy cause. Locally, the 15th Rifle Company, USMCR of Seal Beach collected over 28,000 toys in their 1955 campaign in Orange County and Long Beach. Major J. M. Terry, Jr., inspector-instrutor of the unit has stated that he feels an even greater number of toys will be collected in this year's campaign. Three important features to remember about Toys for Tot's are that the Marine Corps Reserve is not in competition with any group or activity that may sponsor a local toy collection campaign. The only desire in this case is to offer assistance whenever and however possible. Secondly, the toys that are collected from a community go right back into the same community to underprivileged children. Distribution is all closely controlled and coordinated by welfare agencies and community organizations. This year collection points for Toys for Tot's will be conveniently located throughout the Orange County area. Some of these locations will be Shell service stations, super markets, theatres, post offices and banks. Due to the limited time and facilities which are available to the Marine Reservists for repairing the collected toys, it is requested that only new and good used toys be donated. Anyone desiring to assist with the collection or distribution in their community may get full details by contacting Major Terry at the 15th Rifle Company's Training Center located at the Naval Ammunition and Net Depot in Seal Beach or by calling HEmlock 9-9637. Boys Republic Fire Wont Delay Delivery Christmas Wreaths ... Fire last Wednesday struck Boys Republic in Chino, famous for, and in the middle of, its Christmas wreath season. No one was injured and work has already started in repair. This boy community is now in the middle of its annual Della Robbia Wreath making project, with some 30,000 wreaths being manufactured for the holiday week all voluntary on the part of the Reservist. The wage increase came as result of findings brought out by the annual wage survey which conducted regularly by the organization. A number of employees had to make the survey accurate representative by submitting names of various companies check, whose job classification and whose business are compatible to Kwikset's. The only desire in this case is to offer assistance whenever and however possible. Secondly, the toys that are collected from a community go right back into the same community to underprivileged children. Distribution is all closely controlled and coordinated by welfare agencies and community organizations. The last important feature of Toys for Tot's is the fact that all time spent on the campaign by Marine Reserves is in addition to their regular training time and second story of Fowler Cottage, a residence housing 25 of the young citizens of this half century old self-governing boy community. No one was injured and work has already started in repair. This boy community is now in the middle of its annual Della Robbia Wreath making project, with some 30,000 wreaths being manufactured for the holiday season. The boys wish it be known that the fire has not caused any problem in production or shipping of wreaths to their many customers.
