IT'S HANZLIK LEMON-PRUNE PUDDING 1 package lemon pudding ½ cup sugar ½ teaspoon salt ¼ cup lemon juice 2 eggs, separated 1½ cups water 3 cups soft bread cubes 1 7/8-ounce jar junior prince ¼ cup chopped pecans ¼ cup sugar 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind Heat oven to 350°F. (moderate oven). Combine lemon pudding with ½ cup sugar, salt and lemon juice in a saucepan. Separate eggs. Add yolks to pudding beat smooth. Add water and stir over medium heat until thick. Fold bread into pudding pour mixture into a greased quart casserole. Combine prunes and peel and spread over top of puddle. Beat egg whites until foamy. Sugar gradually, beating each addition. However, for the first eight months of this year department store sales registered a per cent increase over the like period of last year. In the United States, overall business activity was at a near record level in August as the economy recovered from the dry dip occasioned by the month-long steel strike. The August in-of-industrial production rose to the June level of 141 per cent. City Park Dept. Offering Activities For Local Women Four recreational activities for women began last week and this week under the sponsorship of the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department. The Homemaker Volleyballers activity began Wednesday, Oct. 24 and will meet every Wednesday for six weeks at the City Park from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The Slim and Trim class which began Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Fremont Junior High School gym at 8:15 p.m., will give figure conscious women a chance to combine exercise and fun. Miss JoAnn Burdick will instruct this six weeks activity. Housewife's Day Out Program, especially designed for mothers with children, begins Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Youth Center. These sessions will begin with a 45 minute exercise and rhythms period followed by coffee time and guest speakers. Guest speakers will speak on hair styling, fashion show, laws that housewives should know, the cheaper cuts of meat, interior decorating and linens. Baby sitting service will be available to those participating in this program. Children must be two years or older. Holiday Workshop offers a chance to pick up new ideas for the coming holiday season. The workshop begins Nov. 6 at the Boy Scout House from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Topics to be covered will be table centers, gift wrapping, tree and house decoration and holiday cookies. A small fee will be charged for these activities. Only a limited number of registrations will be accepted for each activity. Registrations are now being accepted at the Park and Recreation Department office at 200 No. West Street. The 23-year-old soldier was graduated from Norwich City College, Norwich, England, in 1954. Henry Moreno, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Moreno, 10922 Garza St., Anaheim, recently was promoted to private first class in Germany, where he is a member of the 11th Airborne Division. Burroughs Death Tuesday A. M. William S. Smith, born in Canada 66 years ago, moving to Anaheim eight and one-half years ago, died suddenly Wednesday morning at the family home, 831 N. Zeyn St., after a brief illness. He is suvivied by his wife, Helen M. Smith; four brothers, Roy, Alexander, Fred and Lawrence Smith and one sister, Mrs. George Hart, all in Massachusetts. Private funeral services will be conducted at Hilgenfeld chapel Friday at 10 a.m. Rev Donald Cummings, minister of visitation of the White Temple Methodist Church, will officiate with cremation to follow. 6 small onions 6 medium carrots, sliced 6 stalks celery, cut in 1-inch pieces Brown meat on all sides in lard or drippings. Pour off drippings. Season. Add water, cover tightly and simmer about 2 hours, adding more water if necessary. Add vegetables and continue cooking for 45 minutes or until meat is tender and vegetables are done. Serve with gravy made from cooking liquid, if desired. Yield: 6 to 8 servings. MAPLE-WALNUT MOUSSE 4 egg yolks, slightly beaten ½ cup maple-blended syrup 4 egg whites ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup cream, whipped ¼ teaspoon vanilla ½ cup walnut meats, finely chopped Combine egg yolks and maple-blended syrup in saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until mixture thickens and coats a spoon. Cool about 5 minutes. Beat egg whites with salt until stiff. Fold egg yolk mixture into egg whites. Then fold in whipped cream and vanilla, blend well. Add nuts. Place in 2 freezing trays of refrigerator or in individual souffle cups. Set control for coldest freezing temperature and freeze until firm. Freeze time 2 to 3 hours. Makes 10 servings. Top with generous quantities of mable-blended syrup and chopped walnuts.
