Even Mark Twain couldn't, but Broadway star Jayne Mansfield did something about the weather when she utilized Johnson & Johnson's new KLING conform Bandage to fashion a lightweight halter and beat the heat! Jayne got the idea when she learned the new bandage clings to itself and conforms to all body contours. Coolest bandage ever, says Jayne.

Helen Kellogg Aubin Peted on 85th Birth Anniversary
Mrs. Helen Kellogg Aubin, mother of L. Frank Kellogg, principal of Anaheim Union High School of this city, was very pleasantly surprised last week when Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg invited the family in for a dinner party in honor of her 85th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Aubin resides at 122 Orange Ave., in Santa Ana. They entertained at the Kellogg home at 530 N. West Street.
Those present to wish sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother birthday wishes were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kellogg and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kellogg, brothers of Mrs. Aubin; Mr. and Mrs. James A. Mauerhan and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cushman, Mrs. Aubin's daughters; and the following grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Hoganson and four children, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Hoepner and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Flannagin and two children, Mr. and Mrs. James A Mauerhan, Jr., and one child, Dr. and Mrs. L. Frank Kellogg, Jr., and two children, Miss Joanne Kellogg and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Goo. Sattler of Whitter.
After the dinner, a huge birthday cake baked by her daughter, Mrs. Sybil Mauerhap, was served on a musical platter, and as it turned, played the traditional Happy Birthday song. Mrs. Mauerhap is well known for her cake baking and decorating classes in Orange, Anaheim and Fulbrighton High Schools adult class work. The cake was surrounded with two rows of 85 hand-made American Beauty roses fashioned from cake frosting Mrs. Mauerhap has written a cook-book which will be off the press in the near future. Mrs. Aubin cut the first piece and it was then served with ice cream.
The honoree received many lovely gifts, including five boxes of stationary which will be used as Mrs. Aubin will soon have her book of original poems published.
A message was received from her son, H. Clay Kellogg and Mrs. Kellogg stating they were in Rome, Italy, and planned to sit in on the United Nations session in commemoration of his mother's birthday. Pictures were taken by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kellogg on their recent trip to Honolulu where they visited with their son, Dr. Wm. Clay Kellogg and family and were shown at the party to the surprise and delight of all. It was like having them greet Mrs. Aubin on her birthday.
PLANT NEW LAWNS
An excellent time to plant new lawns is early fall, before the rains come. Get your nurseryman's advice on the correct way to prepare the seedbed and sow the grass seed. If you have decided against grass, there are numerous substitutes that are attractive such as English ivy, wild strawberry and dichondra.
