May compared with January of the current year, California Taxpayers' association reported today. At the same time, the number on the aid to the needy aged rolls in the county went up 1 per cent, the number of recipients of aid to dependent children went up 14 per cent, and the number of people on the aid to the blind rolls held almost steady, the Taxpayers' association said. In May, there were 261 people in the county on the entirely county-financed and county administered direct general home relief rolls, compared with 413 for January, the association found. Needy aged rolls in the county for May included 5,679 people, compared with 5,632 for January. There were 1,775 people (children and adults) on the aid to dependent children rolls of the county for May, compared with 1,557 for January. Aid to the blind rolls of the county showed 211 people for May, compared with 212 for January. State-wide, general home relief rolls were 23 per cent lower for May than for January, with 49,-386 people receiving this kind of relief for May, 1956, compared with 64,252 during January.
