Earl Kernahan officiated at the marriage ceremony of Miss Patricia Jo Prebble and Airman First Class Gordon Earl Schwa- coffee. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pebble of White Cloud, Kansas, and he is the son of the Leonard Schwacofers of this city. The bride was lovely as she was given in marriage by her uncle, John Collens of Kansas City, Kansas. She wore a traditional gown of embroidered nylon lace over satin. An illusion veil was caught by a sculptured lace cap adorned with sequins and pearls. She carried a white Bible and a corsage of lily of the valley and sweet peas. As Miss Prebble stood flower-banked altar, tended by her twin sister George Ott, matron of her bridesmaids, Miss Idai and Miss Dianne Bradley Collins served as ring bearer girl. He's also, through foresight, one of the youngest of the 46,175 people who hold shares in Union Oil, the 40th largest industrial company in the country. And his 55 shares entitle him to a report on our 65th year of business. In 1955 our customers paid us the record amount of $368,760,900. $59,286,200 of this amount, or 16.1%, was paid our 8,839 employees as wages and for benefits to protect them and their families. Taxes took 3.6%. This does not affect the $65,875,000 we also collected from tomers as fuel taxes for government agencies. We spent 72% with more than thousand other companies and in with whom we do business. This left 8.3% of the $368,760,900 profit. Slightly more than half of the things were paid in cash dividends. Green and our other 46,174 shareholder also received one additional stock for each ten held. The balance of net earnings, 3.9% of the customers' dollars, we made in the business for necessary expa Union Oil Company MANUFACTURERS OF ROYAL TRITON, THE AMAZING and sweet peas. As Miss Prebble stood before the flower-banked altar, she was attended by her twin sister, Mrs. George Ott, matron of honor; and bridesmaids, Miss Ida Andrews and Miss Dianne Bradd. Larry Collins served as ring bearer, and little Miss Linda Moor was flower girl. The feminine members of the bridal party wore pastel gowns of candy-drop taffeta. Randall Schwacofer served his brother as best man. Ushers were Darwin and Darrel Hartshorn. Candlelighters were Larry Schwacofer, brother of the bridegroom, and Francis Collens. After a honeymoon trip to White Cloud, the newlyweds will live in Roswell, N. M., where he is stationed at Walker Air Force base. He is a graduate of Anaheim High School and attended Fullerton and Chaffey Junior Colleges. The new Mrs. Schwacofer attended school in Kansas. Whether or not you own stock in this or any other company, it seems to us that this report is of vital concern to you. For so long as companies like Union Oil have the incentive to compete and make a profit, Allan Green and others like him will have the incentive to hold shares in that company. This is the best possible economic climate for continuing prosperity. Which is, for all of us, something to cheer about. YOUR COMMENTS ARE INVITED. Groups at Odds on Oil Measure Independent California oil producers today challenged the so-called oil and gas 'conservation' initiative as "a selfish and arrogant oil control scheme by major international oil companies to trangle competition and flood the state with Arabian oil imports." The blunt accusation was made a statement by E. G. Starr of Los Angeles, president of the Association of Independent Oil Producers. Starr charged that "Richfield Corporation, Standard Oil company and several other international importing oil companies owning vast Arabian oil successions are pouring millions dollars into a propaganda campaign to influence the voters in favor of the initiative". He added: "This initiative came from the same nest that hatched to previous oil control bills overwhelmingly rejected by the voters 1932 and 1939." The charge that the 'conservation' measure is a disguised oil control scheme was repeated in statewide newspaper advertisements published by the association urging the public not to be "stampeded" into supporting it.
