Paul G. Winters At Pomona College
Paul G. Winters, freshman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Winters, Rt. 2, 8912 Hoffman st., Aanaheim is among 1040 students enrolled at Pomona college for the year 1955-56, according to Dr. J. Edward Sanders, dean of admissions.
Winters, who was graduated from Anaheim Union High School, plans to major in physics at Pomona.
Forty-nine Pomona students claim residence outside continental United States. 12 coming from Hawaii. Mexico has eight students; the Philippines, six; Japan, three, and Canada, El Salvador, France, Greece, and India, two each. Costa Rica, Formosa, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Iran, Israel, Italy, Malaya, Nigeria and Peru are also represented.

To: Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Bowman, 2110 Grayson St., a 5 lb. 12 oz. son in St. Joseph hospital on Jan. 25.
To: Mr. and Mrs. William Ryan, 1335 Ferndale St., a 7 lb. 9 oz. daughter in St. Joseph hospital on Jan. 25.
Jr. Assistance League Ball to Be Held Mar. 14
"The "Starlight Ball," third annual spring dance, will be held on March 3 at the new Disneyland hotel, announced ways and means chairman, Mrs. George Tokar, when the Junior Assistance League of Anaheim met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Jay Reed, 815 Pine Ridge Knoll, Fullerton.
Great interest in the affair has already been shown by members and their friends, since this is the first dance to be held in the hotel's new ballroom. Committee co-chairmen for this early spring social event are Mrs. William Suitter and Miss Joyce Sweeney, decorations; Mmes. James Morris and Walter Kirkhart, hostesses; and Mmes. John Ganahl and Jay Reed bid sales. A six-dollar donation per couple will aid the league's philanthropies.
At the meeting, the group voted to support financially a diagnostic clinic to be held at the Orange county hospital for spastic children and children subject to seizures. The Orange County Society for Crippled Children and Adults will also be assisted this year, when the members will distribute to the schools Easter bunny coin cards for the use of the children in making contributions.
VFW Auxiliary To Assist in Easter Seal Event
As a community service member of the VFW Auxiliary, 3173 voted to distribute E Seal Containers to Anaheim school for the Orange County Crisis Children's Society, at a meet on Monday evening, Jan. 23, cile Baxter, president, called meeting to order.
Another project of the Auxiliary will be the presentation of an American flag to the Scouts of Magnolia school at next meeting. This is in connection with the Auxiliary Americaism and youth activities program.
To assist in the rehabilitation of veterans in the recent floodaster in the northern part of state, a check for $10 was sent to the Department of California These contributions will also be building a reserve fund for future disasters in this state.
Other check for $46 was sent to the Department of California Capital fund, which completes local auxiliary's quota of $1 member.

Mrs. Ross Walker, projects chairman, described the activities of her Christmas committee headed by Mrs. R. K. Wines, which purchased and wrapped toys, filled Christmas stockings and distributed them to over 50 children in this area. Further, she added, two layettes were delivered to needy homes and several families received clothing. The membership was furnished with a schedule for the dental clinic covering the remainder of the year.
Mrs. Reed was assisted by Mrs. Joseph Truxaw, Mrs. Kenneth Lae and Mrs. William Sutherland in serving dessert and coffee as the business meeting was adjourned. The February meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Heuler, 906 W. Pioneer Drive, Anaheim.

VFW Auxiliary to Assist in Easter Seal Event
A community service, members of the VFW Auxiliary No. 3 voted to distribute Easter Containers to Anaheim stores in the Orange County Crippled Children's Society, at a meeting Monday evening, Jan. 23. Cedar Baxter, president, called the meeting to order.

This is in conjunction with the Auxiliary American and youth activities program. Basketball Teams Near Completion Of Schedules Here
Interest is running high in the park and recreation department sponsored basketball leagues as they near the completion of their schedules.
On next Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, in the high school gym, the church league will continue with Southern Baptist facing Zion Lutheran followed by Latter Day Saints vs. Grace Lutheran. On the same night at Western Junior High, St. Boniface will play Zion Lutheran and First Presbyterian will face First Baptist.
The industrial teams will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the high school gym when Sylvania Electric will play Alpha Beta Foods followed by Delco Battery vs. Northrop. At the same time in Western Junior high gym, it will be Kwikset Locksmen vs. Robertshaw Fulton and Kwikset Hornets vs. Anaheim Teachers. Play begins at 7:30.
The National Tuberculosis Association supported by the Christmas Seal Sale was the first organization in which doctors and laymen banded together to fight a specific disease.
New President Of WRC Presides
When the A. B. Paul Women Relief Corps met at the IC hall, the new president, Bet Leep, was in the chair to welcome two visitors from Fullerton to hear a request for an American Flag from a local Girl Scout troop.
A wide range of philanthropy was reflected in the relief coors for the month, which was as low: $30 worth of clothing tributed among the needy; $20 donated toward child welfare; to polio fund; $2 for T.B. stam; $45.00 worth of canned food clothing collected for flood victims; $5 donated to Red Cross for flood relief; $1.50 to Anahi Girl scouts; gift remembrance sent to six shut-ins at Christmastree dolls dressed and sent Arlington Girl's Town; four calls made and two funeral services.
