County Officials To Hear Problems On Taxes at Meet
Orange county supervisors C. M. Featherly, Willis H. Warner, Ralph J. McFadden, Wm. H. Hirstein, and Heinz Kaiser, together with other public officials and citizens of the county, were invited to participate in the 30th annual state-wide meeting of California Taxpayers' association, which is to be held in Los Angeles, Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 9:45 to 12 o'clock, at the Biltmore hotel.
State tax reduction possibilities and federal government problems are to highlight the meeting.
Hon. Joseph C. Shell, of Los Angeles, state legislator and member of the Assembly ways and means and revenue and taxation committees, is to speak on "State Taxes Can Be Cut."
Dean Lawrence C Lockley, of the School of Commerce of the University of Southern California, Professor Arthur Kemp, of Claremont's Men's college, and Professor Rex Ragan, also of the University of Southern California, will discuss "Mr. Hoover and Uncle Sam."
N. Bradford Trenham; executive vice-president of California Taxpayers' association, will outline "The Taxpayer Job Ahead."

YMCA Annual Meeting – Officer Election Tues. Eve.
The 33rd annual dinner meeting of the local YMCA was held Tuesday evening at the Elks club when the election of officers was also held.
Walter Taylor, president, opened the meeting with the capacity crowd singing "America." Invocation was by the Rev. Earl Kernahan, pastor of the White Temple Methodist church. The Fellowship sing was led by Orville Thomason with C. Merle Waterman accompanying at the piano.
The principal speaker of the evening was Dr. Boyce Van Osdel, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church in San Bernardino, using for his topic, "The 'Y' in a World Lit by Lightning," which was most enlightening and enjoyable. Report of the nominating committee was heard with the following board members elected for a term of three years; James Abrecht, Roland W. Anderson, Warren L. Ashleigh, Wilbert Bonney, Harry P. Burford, Mrs. Al Casebeer, William Fricker, M. A. Gauer Herbert Leo, Jr., James L. Morris, Ted L. Payne, Mrs. Marion Pickel, Carl A. Radke and Walter F. Taylor. Installation ceremonies were under the direction of Irvin C. Chapman, member of the national committee of YMCA: "Status of the Association."

Secretaries Group Seat New Officers
Marie Nelson of Anaheim was presented with a pin and silver tray by members of Executives' Secretaries of Orange County in recognition of her leadership while president during the past year.
As the organization observed its fourth birthday at the Water Wheel Restaurant, Verone Weeks served as installing officer for incoming president, Evelyn Deckert; Carrie Lou Sutherland, vice-president; Anita Waite, recording secretary; Ann Nash, treasurer; La Verne Owens, membership; Connie Littlejohn, program chairman; Phyllis Herman, ways and means; Hazel Jackson, notebook; and Joy Brand, sergeant-at-arms.
Marguerite Coons and Virginia Hughes were welcomed as new members. The next meeting was scheduled for Feb. 21.
