FROM AN EGG-SHAPED HEAD By Waldo Hunter, P.S.B.
THERE IS A daily newspaper of general circulation in this county which likes to drop crocodile tears once in awhile about what it calls the injustice of the tried and true American system of permitting the majority of the people to rule.
As an example, that paper claims it was a horrendous travesty on justice to make the Republicans live under Democratic rule for 20 years just because the majority of the voters wanted it that way.
Bear in mind that the paper in question trumpets the slogan that it is "Southern California's Most Consistent Newspaper".
OK. Now just in passing we would like to see the reaction of that paper's front office to an International Typographical Union election among members of the back shop. That paper hates unions like the Devil hates the Sign of the Cross.
If such an election were to suit in the defeat of pro-union printers, the management, maintain its consistency on matters regarding majority rule would be faced with a poser.
What about the minority who were defeated in their desire to union wages, union working conditions? In such an eventuality the paper would find itself meshed in the skein of its thoroughly inconsistent illogic, to bow to the wishes of the majority, it would (to its way...

that about the minority who defeated in their desire for wages, union working conditions? In such an eventuality, paper would find itself en- ded in the skein of its own roughly inconsistent illogic; for now to the wishes of the ma- rior, it would (to its way of thinking) be using force on the minority in a most unChristian and unAmerican way.
It couldn't honestly live with the majority, nor could it honestly live with the minority. In fact, it is hard to see how it could even live with itself.
However, Pete Cooey, the man- aging editor, and his coterie of Exalted Grand Sachems on the editorial board, could probably come up with some sort of an answer even after their failure to get any concrete assistance from the paper's Golden Rule Bureau, Ten Commandments Division, Sermon on the Mount Department.
Perhaps they can toy with this awhile on some dull week when things are beginning to pall in their Shool Sacking Department.
WINTER COMES ON apace.
Now is the time of year when men get their clothes out of moth-balls and women get theirs out at Broadway-Anaheim.
WE SEE BY the local prints that the Anaheim City Council has estimated the city's population will be about 80,000 by 1960.
Where are all these people coming from?
Are they going down gopher holes in Garden Grove and com- ing up in Anaheim?
Let's see, now. Eighty thousand. That would be roughly 20,000 families. And at least 35,000 chil- dren, all needing schooling. That would mean a heap of new schools.
Now, let's consider the rise in tax rates which this will cause ... (five-minute pause for reflection) ...
Anyone got a revolver?

"If one would look around one would find that the builders today are going back to the good old days of walk-in pantries, two story homes, etc. I have a walk-in pantry in my home, and my wife and I both being from the East, you can see how we both appreciate and find the conveni-
licity from an earthquake localized up San Francisco way.
News like this invariably gets tremendous play in the press back east, with large headlines screaming the news and giving the o rroneous impression that the ex fire state of California has been nearly up-ended by subterranean wrenchings.
The Los Angeles area is getting a lousy press all over the nation about its smog. Here is a go-

Well, it is refreshing to note that some of the old refinements are not entirely giving way to modernism. Progress cannot be stopped, it is true, but sometimes in this day of assembly lines and prefabrication old traditions are trampled.

speed to spar
Speed is one of the very best features of cooking electrically. A modern electric range cooks with fast intense heat which springs into action instantly, reaches desired temperature in second and stays right there until food is cooked to perfection. With no "warm-up" needed and no heat lost, it's just a step from start to serving...and you get perfect results every time.
Electric cooking is for your if it's so much better yet it costs so little!

Los Angeles area is getting busy press all over the nation its smog. Here is a good chance for the LA. Chamber of Commerce to retaliate. They could put out the word: "This particular quake was caused by a slipping of the Hayward fault lying beneath the Frisco area. 'Twas no fault of our's."
