Alexander became interested in arthritic problems when his mother developed an arthritic condition. He observed she had dry skin, dry scalp and hair, brittle nails and no wax in her ears. All this dryness, in addition to her dry, cracking joints, indicated an oil deficiency. Alexander himself developed arthritis after following his mother's eating habits for six months. This included, he said, drinking water while eating which he feels is a bad dietary habit. Both he and his mother overcame arthritis through a dietary plan he developed plus supplemental help from the use of cod liver oil and orange juice taken on an empty stomach. This oil mixture was found to speed relief to the dryness in her joints. His book stresses that diet is more important than ever in combatting the affliction. He feels "people eat their way into arthritis and can eat their way out." Funeral Monday for Carl Kohlenberger Carl Hans Kohlenberger, 87, a resident of Anaheim since 1907 at 531 S.
