"Comes Close To Objective A total of 1406 sponsoring members who gave $20,075 was reported Tuesday night at the Anaheim YMCA Annual Membership Enrollment and Finance Campaign, according to Richard Gay, General Chairman. President Walter Taylor commented that this was an excellent report and was $4,000.00 higher than last year's report at the close of the campaign. However, because of the rapid growth of Anaheim and the large number of prospects still to be contacted, the drive has been extended one week, according to Chairman Gay. It is hoped that during this time those who have not yet been seen will voluntarily respond by sending in their contributions to the youth work of the Anaheim YMCA and thus help to come closer to our $28,276-objective. "Ranch Foremen" in the "Y Roundup" producing over the top quotas by Tuesday were Clarence Mauerhan, Phil Engebretson, Sam Hilgenfeld and Ted Payne. Each of the above persons team exceeded the 50 membership and $375 quota. Frank Kellogg and his K-Y Ranch continued to hold highest position among the Ranch standings with 181 members for $1478. Lee Fellows, Boss of the Y-Felows Ranch was able to get rid of the turtle by presenting it to Warren Ashleigh, Boss of the Triangle Y Ranch. Winners of theatre tickets for being the highest producers of their respective Ranches were: Chas. Bush; James A. Brigadier William J. Parkins, manager of the Salvation Army Social Service Center that serves this area, said stocks of salvage materials are lower than at this time last year. He pointed out that the Center must have a continuous inflow of articles for reconditioning in its workshops. The renewed materials are sold in Salvation Army Thrift stores in this area. "All receipts from the Thrift stores, above actual operating costs, are returned to homeless and handicapped persons," Brigadier Parkins said. In 1954, the local center provided 268,550 hours of work there apy, 60,180 meals and 20,150 lodges. The program here was part of a national effort which helped 43,778 men find self-respect and their first steps back to a normal place in society. The center needs children's and adults' clothing and shoes, furniture, dishes, mattresses, bedding, kitchen utensils, home appliances, silverware, stoves, radio toys, books, rags, rugs and bric-brac. Fullerton Forum Features New York Robert Friars, young adventurer and motion picture producer will be featured at the Fullerton Forum Thursday, March 4.
