WHITE The Anaheim Girl Scout Leaders' club which meets for training purposes and general sociability has elected the following officers for the new year: President, Mrs. Robert Perryman; vice-president, Mrs. Ellsworth Kirkelle; secretary, Mrs. Orvel Burnett; treasurer, Mrs. Phillip Bird. Details of a Spring Festival to be held at George Washington school on May 19 were discussed at a P-TA Board meeting held last week at the home of Mrs. Fritz Osterman. Ways and means chairman, Mrs. W. C. Tuttle, led the discussion. School principal, V. O. Elliott, gave a talk on the "Characteristics of the Good Elementary school. P-TA president, Mrs. Everett Mulder, formed a study group to meet with Elliott to explore the subject further. License to wed has been issued Harry Bennet Reynolds and Colleta Ruth Carroll, both of 7731 Monroe St. A marriage license has also been issued Howard Alexander Franze of 3234 Mills Dr., and Beverly Elaine Drook of 886 Bellevue Dr. The Parent-Teachers association of St. Boniface school will hold First Presbyterian church in Anaheim. Classes will be held on successive Monday evenings through March 21. Courses are offered in Music in Christian Education, How to Develop a Faith that Works, Group Dynamics, Teach-Primary Children, and the Child's Approach to Religion. Its a boy for Mr. and Mrs. James McGuire, 8671 Lincoln Ave. Their 6 lb. 15 oz. baby boy was born on Feb. 2 in St. Joseph hospital. Among the newest members of the Anaheim "stork club" are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Molina. They became eligible for membership upon the birth of a 5 lb. 11 oz. baby girl in St. Joseph hospital, on Feb. 2. Miss Imogen Larson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Larson of Anaheim, is a member of the University of Southern California a capella choir which will appear in concert on Feb. 25 at Anaheim Union High school. Mrs. Robert Trunxaw, 887 S. Los Angeles St., will be hostess to the Junior Auxiliary of the Assistance League on Monday evening, Feb. 21. Doris Doetsch, membership chairman of the American Legion Auxiliary, has announced that paid up membership in the local unit now exceed the number needed for a national citation. Beatty and Libby Neighbors have been elected Skippers of Mariners' Club Ship Number Nine. They will be assisted by Audrey and Emily Van Verst as first mates; Henry and Dorothy Schneider as second mates; John and Evelyn Neymeyers as logkeepers; and Roland and Bessie Reynolds as lookouts. The Griesbaums of 10181 Judith Lane were hosts to the Mariners' Club Lifeboat on Feb. 18. A Kwikset Company dance will be held at the Elks Club tomorrow evening beginning at 9 o'clock (Feb. 18). Under the sponsorship of the Optimist Club, the "Dudes and Dolls" teenage club will hold a dance at the clubhouse on Saturday night, Feb. 19. Even a casual glance at the birth notices shows that Anaheim is contributing its share to the 225 babies being born each month at St. Joseph hospital. Figures recently released by hospital authorities show the total for 1954 to be well over 2000 for the year. Take for instance Feb. 7, 8, and 9; baby boys were born to Mrs. Peter Dykatra of 7191 S. Gilbert st.; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Olson of 214 Charlene Terrace; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Quayle of 8871 Euclid Ave., and Mr. and Mrs. Miles Greer of 1191 Sumac Lane. And that is not all—welcoming baby girls were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn D. Herron of 1284 California Pl., and Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Reeves of 2028 Catalpa St. All these parties reside in Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown and Mrs. Harvey Duncan, both of Carolyn Way, were guests of honor at a surprise layette shower recently given by Mrs. Royce Whittier at her home at 424 Wedgewood Drive. Miss Georgia Drake, daughter of the William Drakes of 940 N.West St., has become a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority Miss Helen Reiter becomes Bride of Kenneth Kapsner in St. Boniface Church on Saturday morning. The Prospectors Class of White Temple Methodist church enjoyed a trip to the Pasadena Playhouse Saturday night, Feb. 12. Adolf Schoeppe, president of Kwikset Locks, has become a member of the National Board of Field Advisors of the Small Business Administration according to an announcement made by Congressman James B. Utt. Mr. and Mrs. Hex Wheelbarger of 8361 Euclid Ave., welcomed a 6 lb. 15 oz. baby girl in Fullerton Cottage hospital on Feb. 2. Church school teachers and church leaders are invited to attend the Orange County Leadership Training School which began Monday evening, Feb. 14 at the side in Anaheim. Philadelphia Ave., suffered three broken ribs and a compound fracture of a leg in a head-on auto crash near San Bernardino recently. Mrs. James Womac of Anaheim recently enjoyed a visit with her cousins in Brea, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Barnhart. Mrs. George C. Tatlock of 733 N.Janss St., has been appointed chairman of the 1955 Easter Seal campaign which is to begin on March 10. Headquarters have been established at 222 E. Center St., Room 210. BROWNIE SWEETHEART DINNER On Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Fremont Cafeteria, the Fourth Grade Brownie Troops from the City of Anaheim met for a potluck Sweetheart dinner. Each girl brought along her Dad as a guest of honor for the evening. Qualit and pretty decorations graced every table—each the handiwork of the individual troops. Mrs. Philip Bird was in charge of the dinner. Roberta McFarland, Jr., led the pledge of allegiance and also led the group in prayer before dinner. As the group finished dinner they all joined in to sing the Brownie songs. Colored slides were also shown of day camp activities. In keeping with the theme, each father sang, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" to his daughter. The meeting closed with everyone repeating Taps. MARTEL SUARZ PRESENTS MORNING PROGRAM Martel Suarz, Interior Decorator for Smith-Reafsnyder Furniture Co., presented the morning program at the February meeting of the Anaheim Home Department on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Chic new draperies and unusual answers to the window-treatment problem were discussed and illustrated. After a share-the-cost lunch, Mrs. D. R. McMillan showed a colored film and gave a talk on orchids and cymbidiums. The meeting was held in the home of Mrs. E. C. McLure, 9622 S. East Street. Miss Hazel Anne Burnett, director of Children's Work at White Temple Methodist church, recently attended the National Council of Churches meeting on Christian Education in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's a boy for Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Myers of 207 Spruce Drive. The infant was born on Feb. 11 in St. Joseph hospital. His birth weight was 8 lbs. 7 oz. The Rev. Theodore G. Gohlke was installed as assistant pastor at Zion Lutheran church on Sunday. Bridal Shower for Mrs. Jack Hersh Mrs. Levin Mushegain and daughter, Patty, and Mrs. Henry Meger and daughter, Shirley, were hostesses at the post nuptial shower held at the YMCA last week for Mrs. Jack Hersh. Mrs. Hersh, the former Sharon Bell of Anaheim, became the bride of Jack Hersh during the past month and is now enroute to Hawaii where her husband is stationed with the submarine service. She was not able to attend the party because sailing orders came through at the last minute. Pictures of the party and shower gifts are being forwarded to her... Mrs. Robert O'Neil was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Ann Reiter (her sister), and Miss Pat Cyron of Montebello. All were matching ballerina length gowns of lavender with lavender accessories. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kapsner of 933 N. Helena St., was attended by his brother, Ivam, as best man. Guests were seated by another brother, Claude, and Robert O'Neil. Following a reception at Capilla de San Antonio, the newly-weds departed on a week's honeymoon trip to San Francisco. Upon their return they will live at 626 Sabina street. The new Mrs. Kapsner is a graduate of Ursuline college in Paola, and is an employee of the Fluor Corporation in Los Angeles. Her husband graduated from Anaheim Union High school, Fullerton Junior college and is now associated with Antone's Market in Anaheim. The Anaheim Mariners club of First Presbyterian church has set fleet meetings for the following months of this year: April, July and October, with the first meeting of 1956 to be held in January. Individual ships have all been re-named and new officers elected. Skippers of the Outrigger ship are now Ralph and Bette Hall; 1st mates, Bill and Susan Talevich; secretary-treasurer, Bob and Dorothy Lindsay; lookouts, Bud and Irene Entwhistle; reporters, Jerry and Marion Zaharte. The Northern Orange County Chapter of the Children's Home Society has set June 3 as the date for the annual "Magnolia Ball." The formal dinner dance will be held at the Balboa Bay club with Mrs. Charles Peterson, ball chairman. Committee heads are to be Mimes, Wyatt King and Max Besler, tickets; Robert Loomis, hostess; Stanley Loudon, decorations; Beatty Neighbors, public relations; Hunter Piper, gust list; and Mrs. George Fowler, publicity. The Anaheim Garden Club will meet on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Fullerton home of Mrs. F. E. Charles. A dinner party at the family home last week marked the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hamon of 527 S. Illinois St. They have lived in Anaheim since 1919.
