A pretty tray of Filled Apricot Cookies adds a winning way to the holiday tea time. Rich golden apricots add sunshine and flavor to these "something special" cookies for your November festing. As the weather gets cooler, more home baking is done. The fragrant aroma of freshly baked cookies is pleasing to everyone. Nobody who keep the cookie jar filled have top rating with youngsters and oldsters alike. And these cookies are ideal when afternoon callers drop in unexpectedly. These sweet Filled Apricot Cookies are easily made and quite attractive ... any season of the year. Delicate brown cookies with the gold apricot filling and cups of hot tea establish a feeling of well-being among your guests. The season is at hand when there will be many demands for cakes, pies, cookies and all kinds of tempting desserts. Add this recipe to your list of holiday season cookies. When there's no time for baking, select hearty or tea-time cookies from the bake shop. The baker always has a variety of seasonal varieties, freshly baked every day. FILLED APRICOT COOKIES Fit cups allied marshmallows 1 cup sugar 1 cup shortening 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Apricot Filling Ball together flour and salt. Cream butter shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Beat well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture mixing until well blended. Chill. Roll out ¾ inch thick on board or pastry cloth. Cut half of dough with biscuit cutter and other half with doughnut cutter. Put about 1 teaspoon filling on plain rounds. Cover with doughnut rounds, pressing edges together with fork. Bake on ungreased baking sheets in moderately hot oven (400°F) for 10 min. Apricot Filling 1 cup chopped cooked dried apricots ½ cup sugar Cook apricots, sugar and water together until thick. Remove from heat and add butter or margarine. Cut half of dough with biscuit cutter and other half with doughnut cutter. Put about 1 teaspoon filling on plain rounds. Cover with doughnut rounds, pressing edges together with fork. Bake on ungreased baking sheets in moderately hot oven (400°F.) 10 min. Cool. Makes about 2½ dozen 2-inch cookies. Lassley at a local chapel in the essence of members of their immidiate families. Miss Lassley is the daughter of and Mrs. Clarence R. Lassley 8891 Brookhurst ave., and her bridgroom is the son of the Loren C., Pixlers of Brea. The bride was lovely in a ballierine length faille grown of ice blue. A short veil was held in place by a headpiece of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white wedding flowers. As matron of honor, Mrs. Ralph Lassley, the bride's aunt, wore a street length dress of pink faille. Loren Pixler, jr., the bridgroom's brother, was best man. Following a reception in the bride's family home, the new Mr. and Mrs. Pixler departed for a honeymoon at Big Bear. They will live in Los Angeles.
