SCHOOL P-TA PANEL
TO DISCUSS COMICS
Comic books and vandalism in the schools will be the subject of a panel discussion at the Edison School P-TA meeting to be held in the kindergarten on Nov. 4 at 7:30. Jack Hibbard, Juvenile Protection Chairman, is to be moderator, and County Juvenile Officers, Clint Wright and Russell Campbell, will be members of the panel. Sixth grade room mothers are to be the hostesses.

Hallowe'en Potluck
The Rallowe'en season was observed at the October meeting of YLI when a pot luck supper and party were held in the I. O. D. F. hall. Members attended in fancy dress and enjoyed an evening of "ghostly tales," a "chamber of horrors," and games.
Mrs. Ray Hudson, Institute president, announced that Mary Jean Lambert, junior past president of Anaheim Institute and district deputy of district 17 will make her official visit to the St. Institute, Lakewood, on Nov. eight o'clock.

On a per capita basis, business activity is at about the same level as a year ago, is down about 1½ per cent from the average for the record year 1953, and is down about 6½ per cent from the all time peak reached in May 1953.
The local banker said that un-employment in the Los Angeles area totaled 92,300 last month — the lowest total this year.
Total employment in the Los Angeles area increased in September for the fourth consecutive month. However, the total was still on per cent below a year ago.
Manufacturing employment totaled 625,000.
