Sergeant Englert Receives Citizenship
Sergeant First Class John E. Englert, son of Mrs. G. Coleman, 21 67 Catalpa Ave., Anaheim, California, was granted U.S. citizenship during recent naturalization ceremonies at the Army's European Communications Zone headquarters in Orleans, France.
A native of Australia, where his father, Mervyn Englert, lives, Sergeant Englert is a supply sergeant in the 882d Engineer Construction Battalion's Company B in Orleans. He entered the Army during 1949 and has served in Korea.

Mrs. Florence Kenny
Mrs. Florence Kenny, 75, a native of Kansas, of 213½ Mills Dr., passed away recently at an Orlando hospital.
Brick’s Donut Snack Shop Open In New Location
Brick and Berthyle Reising formerly owners and operator of the Donut & Sandwich Store in the E. Center Alpha Beta Market will celebrate the grand opening of their new place on the corner of E. Center and Philadelphia streets, Anaheim, this Friday June 4.
Their new shop is to be known as Brick's Donut and Snack Store and will offer the same tasty fries including their famous homemade pies, plus many added dishes. Nights will be from 6 a.m., to 4 p.m., Mondays through Saturday Breakfast and luncheon menus will be their specialty.
To their many Anaheim friends Brick and Berthyle and the culine needs no introduction, just a reminder that all the good things to eat they have served the past will continue to be offered in the same friendly way to homey atmosphere.
The attractive desert green cinnamon trimmed interior papered wall of yellow and red ples reminds patrons of their delicious cinnamon and spice apples sauce donuts and delectable homemade pies. NO DIPLOMAS FOR EIGHTH GRADERS
Eighth grade pupils of Anaheim elementary schools will not participate in this meeting.
Mrs. Florence Kenny
Mrs. Florence Kenny, 75, a native of Kansas, of 213½ Mills Dr., passed away recently at an Orange hospital after a prolonged illness. She is survived by two brothers, Ray W. Scholes of Hollywood and Allen B. Scholes of Anaheim; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Crites of Escondido and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Christian Church of Anaheim.
Private funeral services were conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel, when the Rev. Al J. Casebeer, pastor of the Christian church, officiated, and burial was in Fairhaven cemetery.
Local Garden Club Holds Flower Show
Mrs. James Cowee received the president's gavel from Mrs. Bradford Jones at the recent meeting of the Anaheim Garden club which took the form of a flower show at the home of Mrs. Rena Wheeler, Sunkist Ave. It was a closed show for members only under the chairmanship of Mrs. George Kohlenberger. The sweepstakes award went to Mrs. Fred Edwards; first prize, Mrs. Bradford Jones; second, Mrs. Albert Cranston; third, Mrs. E. J. Craddock.
A sack luncheon was enjoyed with dessert provided by Mrs. L.C. Barrows, Mrs. Mervin Miller, Mrs. Melissa Hauswald and Mrs.Emma Guthrie. New members, Mrs.W.G.Walker and Mrs.H.J.Beckler were introduced.
The last meeting for the current year was set for June 25 and is to be the annual play day. The group will visit the Modjeska Canyon bird sanctuary and then travel on to the Hotel Laguna for luncheon.
ANNOUNCES ENGAGEMENT
Mr. and Mrs. John Matyas of Santa Ana have announced the engagement of their daughter, Patricia, to Fred L.Eubanks of Anaheim. The wedding will take place on June 12 in the Holy Family Catholic church, Santa Ana.
FUCHSIA SOCIETY FILM
Guest Speakers Address Home Dept.; Installation Held; Busy Days Ahead
Director of the Anaheim Library, Miss Martha Metfler, was guest speaker for the afternoon session. She gave a most interesting talk on the "Human Side of Cook Books" and had many anecdotes to reveal in the personalities and background responsible for the popular as well as lesser known manuals of cookery.
Ideas for living room, bedroom, and hall closets as well as outdoor storage was presented by Home Advisor Marian Prentiss by means of pictures, plans and slides when the Anaheim home department met last week at the Fullerton home of Mrs. Adalina Marschall. A buzz session followed to make plans for programs in the coming year.
Mrs. Eleanor Brown of Orange-thorpe home-makers installed the following officers for the new year: Mrs. Earl Fricke, president;
Mrs. James Alderson, vice-president; Mrs. R. C. Hein, secretary-treasurer; and Mrs. Jesse Anderson, director.
Reports on gifts for the past year showed 2 wheel chairs were donated to the geriatric ward at the county hospital; $100 had been set aside for the purchase of dish carts of the new Farm Bureau kitchen; and the purchase of two dozen folding chairs for the use of the Anaheim home department.
Future plans included the enlisting of committees for the food booth at the County Fair, the decision to enter table settings in fair competition again this year, and the sponsoring of a guest night party in the early part of this month.
Mrs. Fred Law, Mrs. A. Stary, Mrs. A. E. Wieczarek and Mrs. Callie Baumberger were responsible for the patio luncheon served at noon.

World Traveller Notes Economic Mid-East Changes
Dr. Giles Brown, world traveler, lecturer and chairman of the social science department of Orange Coast College, addressed last week's meeting of the Anaheim Kiwanis club. He spoke on middle Eastern countries, and stressed that these areas are hostile to foreigners.
Brown visited Turkey and Egypt last summer as well as other countries bordering on the Mediterranean. He also noted trends of intense nationalism, a feeling of unity among the Eastern countries, a rising cry for equal status for men and women, and the invasion of Communism.

The congregation of the Wesley Methodist Church, located on North Los Angeles Street at Wilhelmina, through Official Board and Quarterly Conference action negotiated for the purchase of a home for their minister at 818 South Palm Street, from Paul Czapla, through A. E. Robertson, realtor.
The house will be readied for the minister and family to occupy after the session of the Southern California - Arizona Conference, which will be held at the University of Redlands, June 14-20.
