Hollywood stars and military representatives were on hand the occasion. The military represented by Maj. Gen. Chian Schilt, commanding general of the Pacific Fleet Marine Force and Col. Francis Gabreski of Air Force. Among the Hollywow guests were Maureen O'Hara, rone Power, John Wayne, Carillo, Dennis Day, Duncannaldo and Vince Barnett. Father Maguire won the N.C. Cross for outstanding valor rescuing survivors from a burrship during World War I, achieved fame in World War II when he was credited with spiring the song, "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The fiesta began a fund for national memorial chapel to heroic priest.
