Second 4-H Club For West Anaheim
An organization meeting of the second 4-H club started this year in the West Anaheim area was held last Thursday, March 25, at the home of Mrs. Kenneth A. McCov, 10392 S. Fern St., Stanton. Fifteen boys and girls were on hand to learn about 4-H projects and club activities from an illustrated talk presented by University of California Farm Advisor W. A. Humphrey.
Summer camp came under discussion. Those members who complete their projects and records will be eligible to attend. Plans were also made to participate in the 4-H Fair May 8.
Much of the credit for the formation of the new club goes to the co-operation of Mrs. Esther E. Nunneley, local teacher. Club leaders are Mrs. McCoy and Roy Selover, Jr.
FUEL TAX INCOME INCREASES
Gross revenues derived from JJanuary distributions of fuel taxable under the Motor Vehicle Fuel License Tax Law amounted to $19,736,470, according to William G. Bonelli. Fourth District Member of the State Board of Equalization.
Refunds by Controller Robert C. Kirkwood during the month to purchasers of fuel for non-highway use were $2,233,081, or 11.3 percent of the gross tax liability accruing during the month, leaving net revenues of $17,503,389. These net revenues were 37.4 percent above those of a year ago an increase largely attributable to faculty members named as Deans Of Western Jr. High
Miss Fay Stanley has been named dean of girls and Chester Shirk will be dean of boys at the new Western Junior High school to open in the fall. Both are members of the faculty of Anaheim Union High school.
Pedestrians vs. Motorists in Traffic
California Highway Patrol records show 785 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents last year, pointing out a lack of courtesy and respect between motor vehicle operators and foot travelers.
“An unending battle is constantly waged by pedestrians who allege that motorists are to blame for pedestrians accidents; and by motorists, in turn, who charge that pedestrians kill themselves by carelessness,” commented Patrol Commissioner B. R. Caldwell.
“Pedestrians must understand those laws regulating their movements and they certainly must know that they have no protective armor plate. Motorists, at the same time, have to realize that the average automobile outweighs the average pedestrian about 25 to one. Courtesy and good judgment practiced by both groups will save lives,” he declared.
Caldwell stressed the importance of instructing children in safe walking practices from the time they first venture out of doors. He pointed out that early learning of safe practices in traffic can be the first step toward making a safer, more courteous driver in later years.

Kirkwood during the month to purchasers of fuel for non-highway use were $2,233,081, or 11.3 per cent of the gross tax liability accruing during the month, leaving net revenues of $17,503,389. These net revenues were 37.4 percent above those of a year ago an increase largely attributable to the one-third increase in the tax rate (from 4½ to 6 cents a gallon) which went into effect July 1, 1953. Meet the Men Who Deal in Happiness
WHAT is a Real Estate broker?
He is a man trained in real estate—and the current real estate market in the community. He understands financing and reality procedure—the knows what a specific family will require in a house in order to assure a happy satisfactory family life. He has an objective viewpoint. In other words, HE KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED IN A HOUSE; he knows where to find it for you; he knows what it is worth.
All this adds up to the kind of a man you should have to help you select your home or sell your property, doesn't it? It points up why it is to the advantage of both buyer and seller to use the Services of such a representative. Buying or selling real estate is a major investment and it is only common sense to seek the advice and assistance of a real estate specialist in making that investment.

Buick's Bid For the Body Beautiful
Every lithe line of the 1954 fashion figure has its counterpart in the body lines of the beautiful, new Buick. Its neckline plunges to a new low—accentuating a gracefully curved silhouette—for a slim-waisted look; the beltline is lowered, calling attention to fluid beauty-in-motion. Like Dame Fashion, Buick designers decree a slightly raised hem-line to show more of the lovely means of locomotion. Every fashion point of the body beautiful highlights the Buick today.
