Lee Rodgers have recently returned from a business trip in the East. They attended a convention of the National School Boards' Association and a meeting of the American Association of School Administrators, both held in Atlantic City. They then interviewed Lewis R. Freeman in New York City and arranged for the purchase of 7½ acres of land on the N.E. corner of S. Olive and E. Vermont Sts., which is to be used for an extension of Thomas Jefferson school play area and the erection of maintenance shops and warehouse badly needed by the expanding school system. The purchase price was $3,500 per acre. Freeman is a well-known author and explorer who has never been in Anaheim but who inherited the land from his father, Otto Freeman, the first recorded purchaser of the land. It has been handled by local business men and planted in oranges. BOWLING PARTY FRIDAY Members of the Crescendo club are reminded of the bowling party to be held tomorrow evening (Mar. 19) at 7:30 at the Freeway Bowl. E. Bacon, Southern California Edison Company district manager. Several instances of trouble have already occurred, suiting in interruptions to electric service. The Edison Company office repeatedly have pointed out that danger that lies in flying kites near electric lines, and urge parents to warn their children to kites only in safe places.
