erty owners on the principles will be called upon in days to sign deeds conveying the town sufficient land for parks. Uniformity in sidewalks only necessary for the convenience of pedestrians, but it also the progressive town. It is hoped that all will see the benefit of acquiescing to the request of the Trustees to improve the appearance of the town and that the deeds will be signed without demur.
The Board of Town Trustees held a meeting yesterday, at which it was resolved to purchase land from Mr. M. Deffinger on which to build a reservoir. The land is 100 x 216 feet (half an acre) and the price is $125. There are some buildings on it which will have to be removed, which will add $30 or $40 to the cost. The Board will meet again and will then take the necessary steps to solicit proposals for building the reservoir and laying the pipe. Action in the matter of publishing the delinquent tax list was postponed for two weeks in consequence of the illness of the Marshal.
Charles Winthrop of Wilmington was drowned in the channel opposite Timm's warehouse on Sunday last, when a small skiff in which he and another man were endeavoring to cross the stream was upset.

The Yuma Sentinel says that the city election down there last Tuesday, was a complete fizzle. We have not yet heard that there was a single candidate for office or a single vote cast—and the polls were not opened.
The entertainment on Wednesday evening was attended by a large and appreciative audience and members of the Social Club are grateful for the concourse prolific productions.
Attention is directed to the advertisement of Mr. Hippolite Chen who has just received a gift assortment of gents' clothing.
The business of shipping Pass plumes to the East has been carried on extensively this year with great profit to the shipment Joseph Sexton of Santa Barbara a relative of Mr. Fish of Anaheim in San Francisco and eastern cities principally Chicago. The plume sold readily in the eastern market for fifteen cents each and M. Sexton realized the snug lit sum of $4,000 from this novel vulture. We are afraid if this item gets general circulation—the mkt will be overstocked with plumes next year.
Among the shipments from depot on Monday were two loads of grain and a lot of hid forwarded by Mr. Isaac Cohen.

The entertainment on Wednesday evening was attended by a large and appreciative audience and members of the Social Club are grateful for the concourse which gathered, and at the liberal applause which greeted their performances. The opening farce "Our Quiet Family" was amusing and well acted. The cast included Miss Etta Bremmerman, Miss Nellie Kuchel, Miss Ella Mitchell, Miss Anna Fischer, J. D. Fish, J. Langenberger, Fred McKinnie, W. H. Darracott. A violin solo by John Hartung was next and was followed by a Dutch song and dance by J. Langenberger. "The Fruits of the Wine Cup," a temperance drama was next, given by the same cast with the addition of Fred Fischer and George Shafer. The ball which followed was thoroughly enjoyed and not until 2 o'clock did the revelers disperse.
The Fair at the new pavilion in Los Angeles is, for a first attempt, a very creditable affair. Los Angeles city of course contributes the majority of the exhibits. The mercantile houses make handsome displays of their specialties. Santa Ana exhibits some corn, apples and peaches. Gospel Swamp sends a big pumpkin, but tFlorence sends one which weighs 218 pounds. Westminster shows apples and Garden Grove a cheese from its new factory. Orange sends some fine trees from the nursery of D. C. Hayward. There are samples of ore from Silverado and coal from the Black Star mine. None of the local departments, except perhaps Florence, Pasadena and Riverside are at all interesting. The following is a partial list of the exhibits from Anaheim: Miss Augusta Hartung, a beautiful worked quilt; Miss Kuelp, a very handsome embroidered sofa cushion; Mrs. Frohling, a picture of Alexander von Humboldt, worked in worsted. This elegant picture is a monument to the lady's patience and skill. Chas. Wille, honey barrels; Wm. Konig, F. A. Korn and Fred Hartung exhibit some very superior wines; N. Gray, Orange bitters, essence of orange blossoms, orange brandy, orange wine.
