Ninety-five % of Business Done On Credit Terms Today an estimated 95% of all dollar commercial transactions in the United States are made on credit terms, with buyer and seller brought closer together thru information available for sales and credit purposes. A total of 4,498 merchant businesses were recorded for Orange county when the physical count of names of business listed in the November, 1953 Reference Book of Dun & Bradstreet was complete. According to Richard G. Dunan, manager at Los Angeles, these were rated businesses, since the Reference Book lists commercial enterprises—manufactures, wholesalers, retailers and other businesses generally buying regularly on credit. It does not, however, include some service and professional establishments such as real estate brokers, barber and beauty shops, stores brokers, etc. Thus figures for all businesses in Orange county would be higher than the ones quoted above. Reference book listings in November, 1953: Anaheim, 490; Fulvinton, 323; Garden Grove, 188; Anauna Beach, 292; La Habra, 686; Newport Beach, 211; Orange, 211 and Santa Ana, 1123.
