3 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Capilla Scene Of Wedding Rites for Couple Miss Anna-Mae Byerley was united in marriage with Marvin W. Gould in Mormon ceremonies at Capilla de San Antonio wedding chapel, Bishop G. Merkley officiating. For the simple marriage rites, Miss Byerley was a radiant bride in a street length gown of royal blue corded taffeta. As a pretty accent, she wore a wrist corsage of pink tea roses. The bride's only attendant in the flower-decked chapel was matron of honor, Mrs. J. M. Porter. Mrs. Porter wore a tailored dress of navy blue with pale pink accessories and a corsage of pink tea roses. Her husband, J. M. Porter, attended the bridegroom to best man. By the light of many tall tapers, Mrs. Clara Faust played the wedding music which included the bridal couple's favorite, "Because." The bride makes her home at 10811 La Palma Ave., where the couple will live following a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas and Death Valley. Her parents are not living, but she was represented at the nuptial ceremonies by her grandmother, Mrs. G. E. Elb. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Cox of Salt Lake City, Utah, and has made his home locally at 10771 La Palma ave. Approximately 125 friends of the capilla scene of wedding rites for couple investiture rites held for brownies Brownie Troop 48 of George Washington school recently held combined investiture services and birthday party. In solemn ceremony, presentation of pendants to the 10 girls were made by their leader, Mrs. Cliff Rettig, assisted by Dorothy Bovee. Mrs. Roberta McFarland, executive director, was the guest speaker of the afternoon and congratulated the following Brownies: Linda Sue Herring, Suzie Blackburn, Mary Ann Torres, Betty LaRose, Carole Stewart Mary Ellen Howald, Nancy Miller, Joan Hackney, Paige Brulington. Demonstration On Phone Usage A demonstration and explanation of correct telephone usage was given students of the Crisis Business College on Friday, by John Richards, lecturer of the Pacific-Telephone and Telegraph Company, Los Angeles branch. In the one and one-half hour courtesy demonstration designed to assist telephone users in improving telephone habits, Richards presented two moving pictures. Their titles were, "Telephone Courtesy" and "I'm Listening." They are widely used by schools, business firms and organizations, Richards said, and deal with correct operation of telephone equipment and good voice technique. BIRTH Born to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Baggott, 1278 California Place, a baby girl in St. Joseph hospital. DINNER GIVEN A potluck dinner for all new Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Koss of 7852 Orange Rd., announced the engagement of their daughter, Jeanette, Anaheim High graduate, to Donald McMillin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McMillin of 8961 La Palma ave. As an undergraduate, she held the office of Tri-Hi-Y Council president and was a Gold Seal Bearer. She is now attending Fullerton Junior College as a sophomore student, is affiliated with the Theta Nu Theta sorority and is secretary of Associated Women Students. Her fiance also graduated from Anaheim High school in '52, and at the present time is attending Fullerton Junior college. The wedding is being planned for late spring. The bride makes her home at 10811 La Palma Ave., where the couple will live following a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas and Death Valley. The new Mr. and Mrs. Gould, as employees of Northrup-Anaheim, have been active in the Northrup square dance club, the Northrup Ballroom club, and the Whittier Folk Dance club. Marywood School To Offer Yule Party Dec. 13 The traditional Christmas drama program produced by the Marywood School for girls will be given Dec. 13 at 8:15 p.m. in the Anaheim Ebell clubhouse. An invitation has been extended the public to attend. A new play, written and directed by Marywood's drama coach, Gwen Holly Simpson, will be the main feature of the evening. Entitled "A Time for Love," its cast includes Marywood junior girls with the masculine roles played by Mrs. Simpson's students and former pupils from Anaheim and Pasadena. The Marywood Glee Club will give a musical interlude between the acts, and the play will be followed by four beautiful tableaux.
