Civic Clubmen to Serve On Youth Project Commit.
Two members from each of Anaheim service clubs will from a civic committee Thurs. eve, Dec. 3, at the YMCA, to hear youthful legislators from the Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y clubs explain their ideas about State Government. Competing will be 26 high school students who have spent many hours these past two months doing research in ideas to improve the State legislation. Each contestant will present his idea for a bill, and will attempt to persuade the local committee that the idea is sound, and vital to good state government.
The civic leaders will rate each contestant on his logic, his persuasiveness, evidence of research, police, and preparedness. This score, together with a score from the club leaders, the Y secretaries, and the group itself, will give a total rating. Top contestants will make up the delegation team that will travel to Sacramento in mid-February to represent the Anaheim Clubs in the 6th Annual YMCA Model Legislature.
Winners will be announced in mid-December, as soon as the quota for Anaheim has been received from the Pacific Southwest Area YMCA offices in Los Angeles, who are directly in charge of the entire state wide program.
Anaheim competitors are: Richard Hermann, Jan Critchfield, Sally Olding, Kathleen Cordes, Barbara Mauerhan, Don Isbel, Ann Allen, Zoe Fort, Karen Brand, Clara Walker, Gloria Taylor, Eileen Buhrns, Marilyn Richards, Bonnie Garrison, Barbara Olsen, Patricia Roberts, Betty Muriel.
California Style Thanksgiving Fete
Thanksgiving was celebrated in true California style as Mr. and Mrs. Russell Roquet gave the first dinner party in their new home on South Indiana street.
Their dining area looks out on their swimming pool, and the colorful garden surrounding it seemed part of the indoor decorations because of plate glass window walls that extend from floor to ceiling.
As the family gathered in traditional manner for dinner, the group included Mr. and Mrs. Octave Roquet, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Roquet and children Melanie Judy; and Carolyn; a niece Georgia Jackson; Ann and Jean Williams (whose parents were up north on a hunting trip); Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tureck and Mrs. Susie Diehl.
Visit Ranch
Following a tradition of several years standing, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore of 7232 Monroe st. were entertained on Thanksgiving Day.
