Zimmerman took place in the First Baptist Church of Costa Mesa and the couple are now honeymooring in San Francisco. The couple said their vows with the Rev. P. G. Neumann officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Donovan of 13582 E. North st., and her bridegroom is the son of Ezekiel Zimmerman of Spokane, Washington. For the double ring ceremony, Miss Donovan wore a lovely gown of nylon net over bridal satin which swept the floor as she approached the flower-banked altar. A tiara of pearls held the finger-tip veil, and she carried a heart-shaped bouquet of white orchids. The three bridal attendants wore matching gowns of nile green with identical net hats and satin shoes. Maid of honor was Miss Ann Heidelmann and bridesmaids were Misses Barbara Rees and Elva Lynn Glenn. The bride's sister, Glenda Donovan, was flower girl while another sister, Kathy Donovan, and Ruth Skates were Candle lighters. Eugene R. Gatlin served the bridegroom as best man and ushers were Bill Acton, Jim Donovan, Leroy Grauer, Philip Holly and Otis Boling. "Because" and, "The Lord's Prayer" were the selections sung by Miss Joan Neumann. She was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Daisy Rolshiem of Costa Mesa to; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hale of Modesto; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gatlin of Stockton; and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Donovan and family of Ceres. Their argument shows some reasoning. They look at retail meat prices, then compare those prices with what they got for their meat on the hoof. They can't bring the one into reasonable comparison with the other, and they are loudly asking Washington why not. I heard an undersecretary of agriculture (Benson was probably out of town) the other night on TV say that there was no "manipulation" of prices in between producer and consumer. Would anyone care to come over and engage in a nice long yawn with me? Again, we warn the administration not to blithely pass off the farmer as just another faceless unit of the mob. He can be ruggedly independent, as, for example, the one who filled out an income tax form some years ago. There was a little box on the form underscored with this admonition: "Do not write in this space." The farmer wrote in the space: "I'll write where I damn please." And the farmer can be pretty well set in his beliefs. There is another story of the first experimental run of the steam locomotive in this country. A farmer walked around the contraption, inspecting everything, just before the proceedings began, and proclaimed with some conviction: "They'll never get her started." The locomotive started, and ruffled on down the track. (4) The Wilder Brothers, "The Musical Maniacs." Whieldon said that an added attraction of the breakfast would be "Aunt Jemima" to do the honors on cooking, the pancakes. Bob Jaynes, of the breakfast committee, arranged for her appearance. Food will be served at 7 a.m., and will consist of eggs, hot cakes, bacon, hot rolls and butter, coffee, orange juice, etc. Dick Gay, ticket sales chairman for the breakfast said today the sales so far indicate, as in the past, that the breakfast this year will be a sellout. Tickets are $1.50 and may be purchased at Jackson Drug Store, SQR, J. C. Penny, Security - First National Bank, Antahelm Chamber of Commerce, and Bank of America. Citrus Department To Discuss New Marketing Order The proposed new Valencia orange marketing agreement will be the topic under discussion tonight at the meeting of the Citrus department of Orange county Farm Bureau. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., at the Farm Bureau hall in Orange. Presenting the points of the new agreement and how they differ from those of the old order will be one of the men instrumental in its writing, according to H. E. Balmer, chairman. Next month the department will discuss possible partner to present one of the outstanding comedy acts in show business. (5) The Wilder Brothers, "The Musical Maniacs." Attain that profession... if we don't have you equipment and we'll even come out... WE WA And the farmer can be pretty well set in his beliefs. There is another story of the first experimental run of the steam locomotive in this country. A farmer walked around the contraption, inspecting everything, just before the proceedings began, and proclaimed with some conviction: "They'll never get her started." The locomotive started, and puffed on down the tracks at a spectacular 10 miles per hour. As it disappeared around a bend, the farmer shifted his quid to the left jaw, spat on the tracks, and said: "They'll never get her stopped." But back to the current scene: New Film Added to Anti-Cancer Arsenal of County Cancer Society So many times you hear it said: "Cancer is a woman's disease." Yet the cold fact of the matter, according to Dr. Samuel Gendel, chairman of the Cancer committee of the Orange County Health association, is that cancer killed more men than women in California last year. Not very long ago the opposite was true. It was only during the past decade that cancer started taking more than half its victims from among the males. As recently as 1940 the ratio of female to male deaths from cancer was 129.1 to 124.7. But between 1940 and 1950 the balance changed, and by 1950 the ratio became 133.2 to 118.5, with male deaths definitely in the lead. In California last year cancer took the lives of 8,065 men, as compared to 7,471 women. A major reason for this phenomenon was a sharp rise in the incidence of lung cancer among men. Dr. Gendel estimates that there has been an increase of approximately 200 per cent in cancer of the lung among men since 1933. Fortunately, Dr. Gendel points out, cancer of the lung is curable if its presence is discovered in an early stage. The latest tool in the never-ending educational campaign against cancer is a new color motion picture, "The Warning Shadow." It reveals how routine chest X-rays are being used to discover cancer of the lung in an early stage, and calls attention to the importance of periodic chest X-rays for all men past 45. Dr. Gendel announced that any group in Orange county interested in viewing "The Warning Shadow" may arrange to do so through the Orange County branch of the American Cancer society at 308 Otis Building, Santa Ana, telephone KImberly 2-5223 or calling the county commander, Mrs. Howard Timmons, KImberly 2-3384.
