'Y' Pool Open to Handicapped 3 Days per Week
Both Orange County's crippled children and adults will get a chance to swim each week in Santa Ana with the inauguration of a new swim program by the County's Society for Crippled Children and Adults, it was announced this week.
Co-sponsored by the Santa Ana YMCA, the "Y" pool on Sycamore and Church Street will be open from 1 to 3 p.m., each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday exclusively for the use of the handicapped young people.
In opening the program, Mrs. Ada Thompson, executive director of the Eastern Seal Society, also stressed to the people of Anaheim, Fullerton and La Habra, that to make the swimming available to youngsters from all over the county, volunteers would be needed to furnish transportation.
Although the Easter Seal group carries on a yearly swimming program for the handicapped, this year's co-effort will mark the first time that the pool will be open to the handicapped for their exclusive use during the two-hour period.
