CHIKSAN ENTERTAINS — Hundreds of guests visited the new Chiksan Company plant and offices at Brea last Friday when the firm held open house. The ball-bearing swivel joint manufacturing company took visitors on tours of the plant including 28,000 square foot addition housing a variety of activities. A buffet lunch was served in a cleared portion of a large warehouse.

At Jos. Bennerscheidt’s tin shop the other day we saw a new ware which has just been introduced. It is called "agate iron" and it is used in making many kinds of products which the Cajon Company deed to the Anaheim company a half interest in the ditch known as the Cajon Irrigation Canal, located in Bed Rock Canyon, for $20,000. The deed from the Cajon company was written by Mr. Montgomery on the 12th Inst. It contains a copy of a resolution passed by the Cajon company authorizing their president and secretary to execute conveyance to the Anaheim company. The Mirror says that, with additional supplement added to the last election, the Greater Los Angeles county vote of 10,808. Deducing transfers, etc., since the was printed there are 9,000 voters in Los Angeles. This at the usual average.

YWCA Girls' 4-Fold Program Is Organized
Y. W. C. A. girls have divided themselves into thirteen separate begin their regular meetings this group plus a council and have past week. The Y-Colonettes meet in the balcony of White Temple Methodist church for a business meeting while the B-Y's held a slumber party at Y headquarters. Regular meeting dates for JJunior will be the 2nd and 4th Tuesday and the Seniors will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.
Some 250 club members are working on an efficiency program designed to give better balance in four fields of activity: education, service, worship and social. At the end of the year, record books of each club will be examined. The club with the most outstanding program will be awarded a trophy inscribed with the names of winning club members.

Anaheim school teachers were a part of a group of 2400 Orange county teachers and administrators who participated in institute sessions last Wednesday.
While youngsters enjoyed a holiday, educators of the neighborhood as best man were Roy Martin, Russ Harold Lenz and Edwin Koting Michael Lenz Bible boy.
An estimated 350 relatives witnessed the ceremony which was chic by beautiful music. Mr. Dewey sang "Because" Dawning." Miss Betty sang "My Heart is a Hair as a benediction," "The Prayer." Emerald Rogers the organ.
A reception at the church social hall was mediately following the rites.
John Murrays on Southwest Following Wedding in Fullerton
Newly-weds Mr. and Mrs. John I. Murray are expected home from their honey-moon this week-end. Following their wedding in the Seventh Day Adventist church of Fullerton two weeks ago, they have been touring Arizona and New Mexico.
The bride is the former Clarice Blanche Lenz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lenz of 9611 E.Crescent Rd. She has been supervisor of nurses at the Cottage hospital for the past year. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murray of Fullerton. The couple will make their home in the Los Angeles area where the bridegroom is associated with the Continental Can Co., as head accountant.
Lovely Bride
For her wedding, the bride wore a traditional gown of white satin trimmed with Chantilly lace. A fingertip veil of fingertip length was held in place by a band of poirts, and she carried a white bridal bouquet of spider mums and lilies of the valley.
Her attendants were matron of honor, Mrs. Jess Thomas of Pomona (bride's sister); bridesmaids Mrs. Evelyn Kennedy of Anaheim (groom's cousin), Mrs. Harold Lenz (bride's sister-in-law) and Mrs. Domine Dawney Bridgette brother as best man were Roy Martin, Russ Harold Lenz and Edward Koting Michael Lenz Bible boy.

The Mirror says that, with the additional supplement added at the last election, the Great Register of Los Angeles county shows vote of 10,808. Deducting deaths, transfers, etc., since the original gas printed there are probably 4,000 voters in Los Angeles county. This at the usual average of five inhabitants to one voter, would place the population of the county at about 45,000.
The large and elegant fireproof building of Messrs. T. and J. Backs, opposite the Gazette office, is rammed from cellar to garret with furniture of every imaginable description. Some of the bedroom sets are costly and palatial affairs, but the wants of every person can be supplied. In variety and prices the Messrs. Backs fear competition in Los Angeles or sewhere.

While youngsters enjoyed a holiday, educators of the northern county area met at Anaheim Union High school to hear Dr. George Rajan, Pacific Colony superintendent, speak on "Emotional Needs of Adults." Workshop sessions predominated during the day-long meeting.
The Anaheim Institute was one of three arranged throughout the county by Linton W. Simimons, county superintendent of schools.
RETURNS FROM EUROPE
Miss Mary E. Harpster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Harpster of 619 E. North st. arrived by boat in New York city last Friday after a two year stay in Europe as a U.S. civil service employee. This is her second two-year tour of duty abroad where she was secretary to the Joint Chiefs of Staff at Frankfurt, Germany.
Miss Harpster will visit friends in New York and then will return to her parents home in Anaheim.
VFW Auxiliary Holds Inspection
Inspection of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary was made by Second District President Irene Timmings of Costa Mesa at the VFW hall, 106 N. Phila delphia st. Fifteen guests and 29 regular members attended.
President Mrs Ralph Aldrich led preparations for the Bazaar and Food sale that is scheduled for November 20 and 21 at the hall Proceeds will go into the general fund for veterans relief.
Hugh Jones Dies At Home Friday
Hugh M. Jones, 74, a native of French Camp, Miss., who came West 55 years ago and lived in Phoenix, Aziz., before coming to Orange County 30 years ago, residing at 5183 La Palmt ave., died unexpectedly Friday noon after an illness of several hours.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie R. Jones; two sons, James M. Jones of Artesia and Murton W. Jones of Cypress; four grandchildren; a half brother Jim Jones of Mississippi; and a half-sister, Mrs Betty Burns of Mississippi.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel Tuesday, Rev. Artel Stewart, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church of Bell, officiated and burial followed in Loma Vista Memorial Park.

Alumni of Criss College Meet
The history of Orange County and mementos of the past occupied members of the Criss Business College Alumni association when a meeting was held last Thursday evening instead of the regular meeting night.
After a short business session at the college, the group journeyed to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana for a guided tour of the exhibits there.
Recent members of the local "stork club" are Mr. and Mrs. Louis M. LaSeout of 211 Clark dr. They became eligible for membership when a 6 lbs. 4 oz. daughter was born to them in St. Joseph hospital last Saturday.

Jean Circle Sees S. America Slides
Souvenirs and beautiful colored slides of a summer trip to South America were shown by Mrs. Paul David to members of the Jean Circle of White Temple Methodist church at the October meeting.
The Circle met at the home of Mrs. Dutz Hilbers, 11402 East Crone ave. After a serious business section conducted by Mrs. Richard Hellman, the following young-marrieds enjoyed a social hour during which pumpkin pie and coffee were served: Mrs. Frank Butterworth, Mrs. Robert Fackliner, Mrs. Earl Harker, Mrs. Frank Gushwa, Mrs. M. B. Reed, Mrs. Robert Rees, Mrs. Ralph Osborn, Mrs. Ray Cheatum, Mrs. Ribert Pryor, Mrs. Ted Knox, Mrs. Howard Hickok and Mrs. Perry Linch.

State Official Speaks at Fourth District PTA Meet
Mrs. Conan W. Gray, who represented Anaheim at the Fourth District California Congress Parents and Teachers meeting held last Thursday at Santa Ana Junior College, reports it was a most informative meeting.
Guest speaker was Mrs. Joseph S. Hook, family life chairman of the state group and editor of the California Parent-Teacher magazine, "Service to children through adults," she said, brings greatest personal happiness and satisfaction. We can help parents and children by offering service to cerebral palsy and exceptional children. We need good relationship with youngsters to have them confide in parents and solve their problems together."
