A calico ball given by the Magnolia Social club on Saturday evening last was well attended and very enjoyable. The committee of arrangements consisted of M. A. Mendelsohn, G. D. Plato, F. W. Athearn, A. Rimpau. Reception committee, Fred Langenberger, A. W. Steinhart, Fred Rimpau, L. W. Kirby, Floor Committee, F. Hartung, C. E. Leonard, J. J. Hill, N. Willard. Ice cream and cake were served in the hall during the evening by Harry Hanna. Tickets admitted lady and gentleman were $1.50.
Mr. Chas Hilmer advertises for sale five houses and five lots in the city of Anaheim, fronting on Centre street, cheap for cash or will be exchanged for sheep of good quality. The title of the property is perfect in every respect and the improvements are in good order.
At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Anaheim School District held on Monday last, the contract for the new school house was awarded to G. E. Leonard of Los Angeles for $9,100. The offer of Messrs. Ferry Woodworth & Co., to purchase the bonds of the school district at par, half gold and half silver, was accepted.

The offer of Nesss Perry Woodworth & Co., to purchase the bonds of the school district at par, half gold and half silver, was accepted.
A correspondent writing from West Minster says that two ladies drove a sorrel mare from that town to Los Angeles (a distance of 23 miles) in one hour and forty-five minutes, a little over four and a half minutes for each mile. We have our opinion of that correspondent.
H. E. Boldt died at his residence in Anaheim yesterday aged 54 years and 7 months. He had been a resident of Anaheim for the past fourteen years and his taking off leaves quite a void in the ranks of the old settlers. The funeral will take place this morning from his residence at 9 o'clock.

C. C. Chapman has shipped from his ranch in Placentia, 101 carloads of fruit and has yet some carloads to go forward. The last these oranges will not be shipped prior to November. Thomas Brewett has forwarded to the east markets 50 carloads of oranges from the Placentaia orchards and yet 12 carloads to move. Eastern markets are looking up a Mrs. Brewett, who has been a best of Mrs. Chester Holmomb and Mrs. Lora Zeyn for some weeks leaves this week for her home in Alameda. Mrs. Brewett's home in that town is now under the control of James Corbett, who occupies it with his wife, the house nearby his training quarters.
J. D. Ott, the well-known Santa Claus capitalist was in town on a business mission on Saturday. It twenty-eight years since Jim Mit saw Anaheim and he is just as being and just as handsome as Jacob Berlin will soon begin the action of a ten-room house in Mission Style of Architecture at Mrs. Kroilinda de Yorba on her set of land at Yorba.

In the 4-H Home Economics division, Sally Cuthbert took the following prizes: first prizes for berry, citrus, fruit, grape and tomato juices; 2nd, canned apricots; 1st, canned berries; 1st, canned plums; 3rd, canned tomatoes; 1st, bread and butter pickles; 1st, chill sauce; 2nd, dill pickles; 1st, sweet pickles; 2nd, peach pickles; 2nd, canned corn; 1st, carned string beans; 2nd, citrus marmalade; 1st, peach preserves; 2nd, strawberry preserves.
In the same division, Clada Pletz of Anaheim won 3rd, berry jam; 2nd, berry jelly, Lynn Ann Pletz of Anaheim won 2nd, coffee cake; 3rd, drop cookies; 1st, and 3rd, rolled cookies; 1st, bar cookies. Roberta Claypool of Anaheim won 2nd, and 3rd, angel or sponge cake.
In the 4-H Clothing and Textiles division, Sally Cuthbert won 16 prizes in different classifications of needlework. Martha Cuthbert, also of Anaheim, won 5 prizes in the same division. Clada Pletz copped three of the divisions prizes and Lynn Ann Pletz took one.
In the 4-H Livestock division, Ronald Korn showed the reserve champion swine and the steer shown by Mike Collins of Anaheim placed in the Second (top good) group.
Dan Brownfield of Anaheim placed in the first group with choice) with his steer in the FFA. Beef Cutvision as did Fred Robb Anahiem. Roberts also took for a junior Jersey calf, in All Breed senior calf, and in showmanship in showing cattle.
In the FFA Poultry of Craig Koblitz of Anaheim first place in the pullet cation and first on two three or four pounds, not weeks old.

Introduction. Cox has a M.S. degree in the University of Idaho. His teaching experiences include three years with the naval train school at the U. of Idaho, two years at Wilson High school in Brawley, and two years at superdine college.
George K. De Rubeis will handle metal shop and mechanical work. His M.S. degree is from Stout Institute. De Rubeis has six years teaching experience at Brawley High school.
George P. Fisher will teach English and music. His B.A. degree was attained at Occidental College. He has taught for two years in a Bakersfield Junior high school.
Herbert L. Gleason will teach real studies including senior problems and world history. He a M.S. from the U. of Utah, will be Gleason's first year teaching.
Ms. Helen Grunenfelder will join the Girls' Physical Education department. She received her degree from the University of New England. Her teaching experience has been three years at Compton High school.
George T. Hanley will be in the commerce department. His A.B. degree was obtained from Arizona State college. Hanley served as superintendent of the Tolleson (Arizona) Unified System for six years.
Mrs. Mildred Holen will teach world history, mathematics, and English. She has a B.A. degree from the University of Washington. Previous teaching experience is given as two years at San Bernardino Junior High and three years in the Santa Ana elementary system.
W. Buford Smith will handle mathematics and radio classes. Smith has a B.S. degree from Union university and a M.A. degree. He has taught in the Cedar Town (Georgia) High school for nine years and served as principal of Trion (Georgia) High school for one year.
Orville G. Thomason will teach orientation. He holds a A.B. degree from LaVerne college. His teaching experience includes three years at Baldwin Park High, three years at Claremont High, and six years at Bonita High.
George H. Zentz will teach both Spanish and music. He obtained his M.A. degree from the University of Minnesota. Zentz taught four years at Fort Sumner (New Mexico) High and three years at the University of Minnesota. He had seven years experienced in the diplomatic service including three years in Mexico, one year in Brazil, one year in Peru, and two years in Japan.
