Women of White Temple Told of Campers' Work
The women of White Temple's society of Christian Service participated in an especially interesting meeting on Thursday when they met for their regular monthly meeting.
A prayer service in Wesley hall began the session at 11:15, and was followed by luncheon in the church dining room. Members of the Goodyear circle served an appealing summer salad luncheon with home-made cake for dessert to 75 members and their guests.
Several of White Temple's outstanding young people were featured during the general meeting which was held in the ladies parlor under the direction of the president, Mrs. Lawrence Wagner. Mrs. Harry Fachiner gave devotions.
Accompanied by organist Marjorie Cranston, Myrna Lewellyn, sang, "The Star" and "Bless This House."

Judy Belle Wicker, Dorothy Thomas and Roy Casey, members of the MYF team who spent a week working with the Indians at the Eloy Community Center in Arizona earlier this summer, told of their experiences. Pictures taken of the week's activities helped to bring home to the audience the value of this work which is supported in part by W.S.C.S.
The meeting adjourned with the announcement that a regular meeting will not be held in August. The group will convene again in September.

The trend toward the "decentralization" and "siturbanization" of the general Los Angeles area is continuing unabated. Completer of the Santa Ana Freeway will bring many Orange county communities within convenient range of Los Angeles—and particularly within easy driving distance of the great industrial plants in the central manufacturing district, Vernon, South Gate, Huntington Park, etc.
The Freeway will speed the industrial and residential development of the section of Orange county extending from Buena Park and Fullerton southeast to Santa Ana.
The research expert said that building permits are being issued this year in a volume never before even approached in the history of Orange county. During the first six months, building departments for the 14 cities and for the unincorporated area issued permits totaling $64,097,000—a gain of 73 per cent over the first half of 1952.
Jamison noted that even more impressive gains were recorded in residential building. Permits were issued in the county during the first half of 1953 for 5,795 dwelling units—a gain of 86 per cent over the first half of 1952.
If the building permit figures are related to the population, it is found that current building volume in Orange county amounts to $465,000 per year per 1000 population.
This is nearly double the figure for Los Angeles county, the banker said. The current number of family dwelling units authorized per year per 1000 population is 42.1. This is more than double the Los Angeles county level, and about 6 times the national level.
Real estate loans have been recorded in Orange county during the first five months of 1953 at a rate equivalent to $183,000,000 per year. This compares with the previous record of $123,420,000 established in 1952, Jamison said.
The current volume of real estate loans per 1000 population is more than 50 per cent above Los Angeles county level—and the latter is at an all-time peak.
Industrial concerns in increasing numbers are selecting Orange county as a plant location. During the past year or so the announcements of new factories to be built in the northwestern portion of the county have made particularly

Jamison stated that the industrial development of the area has only begun. Future prospects for industrial growth are excellent, particularly it is given active local encouragement.
