4 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, JULY 16, 1933 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Children Fete Parents on Silver Wedding Anniversary Saturday Pat, Virginia Lee, Mary Elizabeth and Bill Sullivan, teen-age children of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Sullivan of 114 N. Citron st., held open house on Saturday night in honor of their parents' silver wedding anniversary. The living room was tastefully decorated for the occasion. A beautiful wedding cake bearing the inscription "Happy Anniversary" was the highlight of the buffet table flanked on either side by a gleaming silver coffee and tea service complete with water pitcher to match, which were the gifts of the children to Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan. The couple have been residents of Anaheim for the past 22 years. Sullivan operates a fencing business at the home address and Mrs. Sullivan has recently opened a new ceramic and hobby shop at 822 W. Center st. Mrs. Sullivan was charming in a white dress accented at the shoulder with a corsage of red roses when the couple received the congratulations and good wishes from the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Sam Roher, Mrs. Sam Worral, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Newman, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jansen, Mr. and Mrs. Lenzy Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pedicord, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Agren and Miss Ann Heatherington. Relatives who came to Anaheim especially for the party were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nash (Mrs. Sullivan's brother and sister-in-law) of St. Louis, and Dr. and Mrs. Frank P. Nash, niece and nephew, of St. Louis. Mrs. Walt Miller is one of the fortunate first clients to receive Maxine's expert attention in the tastefully decorated new shop. (Gazette photo) Safeway Workers Hold Annual Feed The employees' association of Safeway Stores held an annual out-door breakfast in Anabeim City Park on Sunday morning. The affair was arranged by board members headed by Association President Kar Durham. Approximately three hundred employees and their families enjoyed a breakfast of orange juice, pancakes, bacon and eggs, coffee and milk prepared by a committee of 18 cooks representing the various stores. Prize winners in the children's events received monetary prizes while the adults received prizes of merchandise. An electric coffee-maker, a television lamp and three kitchen knives were awarded as gate prizes. Topperettes Spend Evening at Cards The Topperettes met last Tuesday evening at the home of the president, Mrs. William Chamberlin. 707 Buttonwood st. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. Robert Long and Mrs. Alex Deverall. Charles Moores Observe Wedding Anniversary in SF Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore of 7232 Monro st. celebrated their twenty-eighth wedding anniversary last week in San Francisco. Mrs. Moore, well-known locally as Val Moore, was attending the national convention of Dancemasters of America. The couple flew to San Francisco and made their headquarters at the Sir Francis hotel. A close friend of Mrs. Moore flew in from the Hawaiian islands to teach the hula at the convention and presented Mrs. Moore with a fresh floral lei and a corsage of orchids in honor of her anniversary. Birthday Party has July 4th Team The Fourth of July holiday set the theme for the birthday party given by Mrs. Frank Stewart of Brady st., Hansen Manor, for her two daughters, Teri, 4, and Vicki, 6. Eighteen children took part in Topperettes Spend Evening at Cards The Topperettes met last Tuesday evening at the home of the president, Mrs. William Chamberlin, 707 Buttonwood st. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. Robert Long and Mrs. Alex Deverall. Two guests were introduced at the informal business meeting. They were Mrs. Charles Meacham and Mrs. Cy Naffziger. It was announced that the next meeting will be held on Aug. 4 at the home of Mrs. Betty McMillan of Santa Ana. Secret pals will be disclosed then and will be discontinued after the membership list is revised in the fall. It was noted that the club is essentially a social club of nearly ten years standing, composed of Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana women and is not to be confused with the Tip-top club where extreme height is a qualification of membership. After the business was transacted, the members enjoyed an evening of bridge and canasta. Mrs. Chamberlin won the bridge prize and the canasta prize went to Maxine Kirkhart. Mrs. Naffziger and Rosemary Zirvar were awarded consolation prizes. The climax of the party came when a carousel cake was served complete with flags and red, white and blue decorations. The ice cream social will be held on the church lawn next to the bungalow. Each item will be sold at ten cents with free re-fills on punch and coffee. Proceeds will go toward the building of a new church which is badly needed by a congregation overflowing present quarters. The public is cordially invited to attend the ice cream social tomorrow evening. Robert Heaths Visit from Geneva Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Cream Social Lands Summer Camp Fund Drive Fifteen gallons of home-made cream were dispensed over the winter at the ice cream social last evening from 6:30 to 8:00 in the garden of White Temple Methodist church. Junior high, high school and college MYF groups co-operated making the ice cream and service with assorted cakes and coffees as the final fund-raising event at their summer camp program. Sixty-one White Temple youths have so far indicated the wish to end a week at camp this summer. City Talent Night Auditions Slated Auditions are now being given singers who wish to participate in the city park Talent Night held for August 13. Talent Night is not to be a competition but rather an opportunity talented local youngsters to demonstrate what they can do. The event was well attended last year and thoroughly enjoyed by those who participated. CSC Class Enjoys Golfing Social For their most recent party night, twenty-six members of the C.S.C. class of the Church of Christ met at the church at six o'clock and went by car to Long Beach where they dined at a cafeteria. Finding a nearby miniature golf course too crowded for so large a group, they continued on to Downey where they played miniature golf for the remainder of the evening. Couples participating in the beers, Bob Stalcups, George Watts, beers, Bob Stalcups, George Waas, Marshall McFies, Bob Brookmans, Al Mills, Joe Lindcups, Merton Landweers, Allen Blakelys. Also attending were Mary Pickard, Pearl Otto, Earl Mills and Neanetta Saviers. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Denny, 916 S. Claudina st., became the parents of a son on Friday. The infant weighed 7-lbs., 10-oz., and was born in Santa Ana Community hospital.
