RC Entertains Vets in Hospital A social evening for patients at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach was sponsored by the Anaheim chapter of the American Red Cross on Thursday evening. Arrangements were made by Miss Frieda Jangs, 114 N. Janga st., local representative to the Long Beach Council. The party was attended by Miss Janas and Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Wigser, past president of the local chapter. A community sing and various games were enjoyed. One thousand cookies were baked for the occasion by the Anaheim BP chapter of P.E.O., and were served with punch and coffee. Native Daughters Plan Benefit Card Party Plans for a benefit card party to be held next Thursday, were the main business on the agenda when Native Daughters of the Golden West met last Thursday at the IOOF Hall in Fullerton. The card party will be open to the public. Harriet Hadewig and Sylva Myers, delegates to Grand Parlor, held in Santa Cruz, June 22-25, gave reports on their trip. The group welcomed Olive Hadley, visiting deputy from Santa Ana. Announcement was made that new officers will be installed during special ceremonies on August 20. At the close of the meeting, coffee and sweet rolls were served to the 35 members present. There are over 41,067 Methodist churches in the United States. Maryland Become Permanent Home Of Anaheim Girl Word has been received that Virginia Barnett Goodenow formerly of 1628 E. Santa Ana and Tokyo, Japan, has settled momentarily in Maryland with husband and baby daughter in. Her permanent address is Franklin B. Goodenough, Jr. Alvin P. Maginnis, P. O. Box Dundalk 22, Maryland. Virginia is the daughter of and Mrs. Alvin Barnett of E. Santa Ana st., and is a graduate of Anaheim schools and lerton Junior college. Five ago she interrupted a course at UCLA to take a second position with the Department the U. S. Army in Tokyo, married Franklin Goodenou fellow-American, at the cone in Tokyo and lived Yokohama till April of this year when couple returned to the states. Job's Daughters Hold Potluck Beautiful floral decorations done by John Foster and Doris Simmons highlighted the regular family potluck dinner meeting of Job's Daughters on Tuesday evening at the Masonic Temple. Following the dinner, some 20 parents gathered for a closed meeting while Honored Queen, Sandra Johannes presided at the business meeting of Job's Daughters. A variety of business was discussed. During the meeting, Elva Lynn Glenn, past honored queen was introduced. Ikettes Slate Potluck Tonight The Anaheim Ikettes will meet tonight at 5:30 in La Palma Park, for a pot luck birthday dinner. This annual party will take the place of a regular meeting. Members and their guests are invited to bring own table service, fried chicken, vegetable or salad and beverage. The cake will be furnished. As this planned pot luck party is to be a family affair, husbands and kiddies are definitely included. Rinshed-Mason Picnic Saturday The annual family picnic of Rinshed-Mason Co., 1244 N. Lemon st., will be held on Saturday in La Palma Park. The picnic is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. It will be an afternoon of fun for adults and children with various games, contests and a scrub ball game planned. Steel-Faulkher Betrothal Told Mr. and Mrs. Cecil E. Todd, of 7252 Ninth st. Buena Park, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Martha Carol Steel to Lester H. Faulkner, Jr., of 540 W. Chestnut st., Anaheim. The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lesile H. Faulkner. Announcement was made at a recent dinner party for family and close friends at the home of Miss Steel's parents. Both young people are well known in Anaheim, having attended local schools. Miss Steel is employed by the local branch of the Seaboard Finance Co. Faulkner is a graduate of George Pepperdine college and is currently employed in San Diego. He has gained considerable local fame for his basketball prowess. The wedding is scheduled for August 29 in Capilla de San Antonio. Doll Show Slate July 29 in Park Marill Henderson, popper director of special activity the city of Anaheim, had a reminder to children ready for the Doll Show held in the park on July 29. There will be separate for many different kinds and awards for the small most unusual, the best the most beautiful, best to doll, etc. The Anaheim Doll club being an exquisite modern sweepstakes prize judging will be done on the day of the doll dressed in the handmade clothes made by Joelle Wise won the prize year with her Tartan dolls. A daughter was born and Mrs. Robert Dodson on 29th at Santa Ana Corr hospital. The infant weighed 13-oz., and is at home at 203½ North Helena st. Each family will bring their own basket lunch. About 60 are expected to attend. Local Residents End Fishing Trip Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Marvin of 1014 W. North street have recently returned from a week's fishing trip at Robinson creek near Twin lakes. They report excellent trout fishing, good camp sites and favorable weather at an altitude of 7500 feet. Accompanying the Marvins on the trip were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Loard and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Wisser and granddaughter, Billy Lawrence, (all of Anaheim) and Warren Patton of Oakland. Births Mr. and Mrs. David Jones of 131 S. Philadelphia st., became parents of a son on the Fourth of July. The baby weighed 5-lbs., 13oz., and was born in Fullerton Cottage hospital. Gauer received word by cablegram early this week that they are grandparents of twins born on Independence Day to their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David H. Blee of Karachi, Pakistan.
