5 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, JUNE 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Officers Installed for Second White Temple Church Circle. Following the trend of many women's organizations in a fast-growing community, the Betty Whitfield circle of White Temple Methodist church is dividing into two separate parts because of continued increase in membership. At a joint meeting last Tuesday evening held in the ladies' lounge of the church, officers for the new groups were formally installed with an impressive candlelight ceremony by Eleanor Ashleigh representing the executive committee of Christian service. Sponsored by Esther David, the new officers of the Jean Heilman Home Dept. In Tour of Santa Ana Spots Fun was the order of the day when fifty-one members of the Anaheim Home Department made a tour of Santa Ana last Wednesday. Gathering at Bower's Museum at 10:15 a.m., the group heard a lecture concerning skills and miniatures by Mrs. F. E. Coulter, curator, and then browsed about the museum to inspect the current doll show there. Sponsored by Martha Hamilton, the new officers of the Luverne Jensen circle are Luverne Jensen president; Betty Whitfield, vice president; Polly Mahaffey, secretary, and Ardyse Ann Bown, treasurer. After the installation ceremony, program chairman, Meryle Osborn, gave a history of this circle which centered about the interests of the youngest age group of women in White Temple Christian service. Started with a handful of young marrieds in 1947 and called at first the Busy Brunchers, the circle has taken part in a diversity of church activities and has grown to a membership of more than 50. Announcement was made that the next meeting will be a sack lunch at La Palma park for members and children and will begin at 12 o'clock on the second Tuesday in July. Betty Whitfield presided during the business meeting, which was followed by a social hour. Jean Heilman and Luverne Jensen were asked to pour at the tea table. Hostesses Alice Whieldon and Betty Whitfield served assorted salads and open face sandwich- Fun was the order of the day when fifty-one members of the Anaheim Home Department made a tour of Santa Ana last Wednesday. After a salad luncheon at a nearby, the group motored to the Jesse Appliance shop where they saw a laundry demonstration and participated in a radio show by means of tape recorder. This show went on the air the next day over local station KVOE and the following women were able to hear themselves take part in the audience participation program: Mrs. Fred Law who was celebrating her birthday, Mrs. Herman Freese who was celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary, Mrs. M. L. Tuck Bose, Mrs. C. W. Mauerhan, Miss Bessle Elkins, Mrs. M. I. Bush, Mrs. Walter Paulus and Mrs. Jesse Anderson. A drawing was held during the recording of the show and the lucky winners were Mrs. H. Bircher, Mrs. George Earle, Mrs. Howard Greene, Mrs. Mauerhan and Mrs. Rose. The outing was arranged by Mrs. Jesse Anderson, president of the Anaheim Home Department, assisted by Mrs. Ina Gathas, vice-president. The next meeting of the group will be on Sept. 23. Criss 2 East Center st., gave a party for bride-to-be Elsie Day and members of the wedding at their home on Sunday. Miss Bradley became Donald R. Price at wedding monies on Tuesday. Included in the party were the Donald R. Price, his mother, father, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis of Garden Grove, his grand-ts, Mr. and Mrs. William and his aunt, Mrs. Mary towards. No sharing festivities were the sisters and brother-in-law, and Mrs. Donald Kroeger, two children and the follow-ers: Mrs. Mary Knight, Pearl Duval and Mrs. Thomasbitt. St. Boniface PTA Holds Final Meet of Year The last meeting of St. Boniface PTA for the year took place last week at the PTA hall with Mrs. R. L. Merrick presiding. In a formal ceremony, Father Michael Casey installed the following officers; president, Mrs. Loren Roberts; vice president, Mrs. R. E. Kennedy; secretary; Mrs. Don Daly, financial secretary; Mrs. Henry Gillespie; treasurer; Mrs. Vincent Peltzer; auditor, Mrs. Richard Crog; historian, Mrs. Osborn and parliamentarian, Mrs. Don Redman. Since the month of June is designated for special devotion to the Sacred Heart, the retiring president was appropriately presented with a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in recognition of her service. Adolf Schopee of Kwikset Locks, Inc., received a vote of thanks for presenting the school with a flag. A list of the names of new committee members was read as well as a letter from Sister Mary Helen, school principal, in which she thanked the organization for courtesies extended throughout the year. Rosemary Wood Leaves on Tour Of Europe Rosemary Wood, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John A. Wood, 558 S. West st., who was graduated from Stanford University on Sunday, will fly to New York City tomorrow to embark next Wednesday for a summer-long tour of European art galleries on the American Student tour. She will sail Pineapple upside down cake and coffee were served during the social hour which followed. The refreshment table was decorated with huge shasta daisies grown by Mrs. Frank Nelleson. The new officers were presented, with corsages fashloned of yellow shattered carnations tied with blue ribbons, signifying the school colors.
