Anaheim Council P-TA Elects Chairmen, Plans Activities The Anaheim Council of Parents and Teachers met in the Investment in Youth building last week with President Mrs. John Henry presiding. Major business conducted was planning for activities and conferences, calendar of Council projects and election of chairmen. Paul Cook, superintendent of Anaheim Elementary schools outlined the Child Safety Crusade program which begins in local schools the week of June 1. A list by which parents may check possible causes of accidents in the home is being sent home with the children. Mrs. Henry announced the following committee chairmen for 1953-54: Mmes. W. G. Head, budget and finance; Frank Wick, conservation; Forrest Simonton, parent education; Conan Gray, publicity; Robert Perryman, room representatives; Willis Hollowell, magazines; Philip Bird, recreation; Marlon Henry, registration; August Fitz, publications and emblems; Warren Hodges, extension; Fred Lee, honorary life membership; William Rickel, membership posters; Walter Meade, motion pictures. Others are: William Klapper, safety; Joe Mason, music; George Dierberger, welfare; Harry Smits, health; Dan Rowland, art and decoration; E. C. Forbes, ways and means; Ted Bourne, publicity record books; Grace Splelman, courtesy; Louis Sandoval, juvenile protection; Sam Morgan, citizenship; Byron Dahl, hospitality and Mark Stephenson, hostess. A meeting of treasurers and local unit chairmen is being planned it was announced by Mrs. Howard Wilkinson and Mrs. Kirk. Presidents of local units present were: Mrs. Clyde Dawson, Benjamin Franklin; Mrs. Sam Morgan, Broadway; Mrs. Ivan Mahaffey, Cypress; Mrs. Philip Bird, Fremont; Mrs. Everett Mulder, George Washington; Mrs. Vernon Starr, Horace Mann; Mrs. Ben Wright, Lincoln; Mrs. James Chase, Los Alamitos; Mrs. Clyde Dutton, Thomas Jefferson; Clyde Nickle, high school, and Mrs. Frank Wick, LoaRia, in the absence of Mrs. Louis Bircher. The Triple Trio of the Presbyterian church sang three numbers under the direction of Winifred Beebe Sloop with Frances Cowee as accompanist. Members of the trio are Rachael Cadwalter, Yvonne Fitz, Phillis Kirchmann, Barbara Simonton, Jan Larson, Dorothy Cosnell, Carol Fitz, Sandra Johannes and Anita Schultz. Mrs. Simonton, retiring president, received a gift from her staff and chairmen in appreciation of her fine leadership. Special guests were Paul Cook and Robert Shanks, principal of Thomas Jefferson. Hostesses for the noon potluck and social hour were members of the high school P-TA: Mmes. Head, chairman; Carl Leonard, Simonton. Hodges, Stephenson and LoaRia. Buffet Luncheon Given by Ebell Book Section The Book Section of Anaheim Ebell club met for another delightful session preceded by a buffet luncheon, Monday afternoon in the clubhouse. The social hour was under the direction of the assistant leader, Mrs. E. C. Kendrick and hostesses, who were Mmes. H. G. Harling, E. E. Smith, H. W. Saulsbury, R. W. Mungall, Charles Bush and Miss Bessie Elkins. Luncheon tables were daily decorated with Flanders' Field popples, compliment of Mrs. Saulsbury who raised them from seeds of popples brought from Flanders by a relative. Mrs. Leo J. Frlis conducted the business meeting and Mrs. Joe R. Thompson read a group of spring poems which she had selected and called "Spring Fantasy." H. H. Stabberts Attend Convention In Colorado Springs H. H. Stabbert of the Stabbert Insurance agency, accompanied by Mrs. Stabbert left Sunday to attend the Guardian Life Insurance "Qualification" convention in Colorado Springs.
