FUHS Students Lay Plans for Annual Pow-Wow Plans were being developed last week at Fullerton Union high school for the annual Pow Wow carnival, to be held Friday, May 15, in the stadium, under the direction of Connie Stafford, student executive board member, assisted by a committee from Student Congress composed of Charlie Hass, Woodie Clum, David Towle, and Charles DeGenero. Since cancellation of the parade this year, by vote of Student Congress, more attention will be given to other events, including a field day program, the carnival, and the coronation dance, Miss Stafford said. Her proposed new plan, presented to Congress and approved unanimously, provides for a point system at the carnival by which skill players can accumulate a score from one or more concessions and, at the end of the play, "cash" in the score at a central prize booth on the field for awards of their choice. Prizes will be available at several "levels," depending on total point score accumulated, Miss Stafford explained. In general, prizes are to be more desirable this year, as incentive to players to take more active part in games. Another new feature this year will be a prize to the best decorated booth or concession. Admission to the carnival, open from 4 to 8 p.m., will be 25 cents at the gate for adults and high school students. Playing tickets are to be five cents each. As in the past, a student-operated vaudeville show will be held for all guests at the carnival, beginning about 6:30 p.m. Patti Quist and Lynn Stafford are in charge of this event. They announce that Willie Ugh, Richard Ransom this year, will be assisted in his selection of Miss Wow from a bathing beauty group by two adult "charm critics," who will be professionals and serious in their selection of the outstanding girl. Theme of the Pow Wow will be "Indians" and many concessions operators and students attending are to be costumed in Redskin apparel. The carnival will end on hour before the start of the dance to provide time for changing into other clothes. Among concessions already planned are cascarones by the Spanish club, fish bowls with pinpong balls by the Latin club, darts at Teachers' pictures by Boyle league. New concessions will include hoops over legs by Girl athletic association, and a car show by the Kay club. Refreshment concessions will include hot dogs and cokes by High-Y, a taco booth by food classes, and cup cakes and coffee by the P-TA. Other concessions not yet applied for by campus organization are Hades, dunk the dude, sponge at teachers, nail pounding, caricature drawing, darts and apples and the idea of a public auction. CENTER ST. 702 American Ave., Long Beach Drama Scholarship Won by Student At Fullerton Hi Winner of a Pasadena Playhouse scholarship of one-half tuition for two years at the nationally famous school was announced this week as Richard Rossome of Fullerton Union High School, who is to begin training at the Playhouse next year after graduation from high school, according to George Archambeault, drama instructor at FUHS. Rossome was selected for the scholarship, amounting to approximately $850, because of outstanding ability as an amateur actor within recent years. During the 1952 season he won individual commendation at Santa Ana Playhouse and more recently he was named as best actor at the Pasadena tournament for his performance in "Enter the Hero." Last year's winner of the scholarship, the same as Rossomme's this year, was Jane Amondsen of FUHS, who is now attending the Playhouse school. The FUHS play in which she took part in 1952.
