Holds 14th Annual Banquet
The Cinema club of Orange county held its 14th annual banquet last week at the Greenbrier restaurant in Garden Grove, with 118 members and friends present. A reception at 6:30 preceded the dinner at 7:30 p.m. A patriotic theme inspired the motif used by Mrs. Marge Peters in decorating the banquet tables.
President Leland Hansen of Anaheim introduced his staff of retiring officers who were vice-president Murel Royer; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Doris Hollday; program chairmen, Andy Fisher and Lew Babcock; and sergeant-at-arms, Joe Ortiz. Hansen introduced the new president, Harry Peters, who presented his staff, consisting of Henry Fones, vice-president; Hachael Hill, secretary-treasurer; J. W. Whitesides and Lee Hansen, program chairmen, and sergeant at arms Joe Ortiz.
Door prizes were awarded, and merchandize donated by dealers and manufacturers was won by members who had submitted films to the contest. The Los Angeles 8mm club judged the contest.
The Junior general classification first place went to Russell Fleberg of Huntington Beach for his picture "Colorado Bound." Mrs. Frank Hollday of Tustin received honorable mention with "Here and There with the Holldays." In Junior Scenario classification, Kenneth and Rachel Hill took first place with "Double Indemnity," and Emma Fitzgerald, Santa Ana, won honorable mention with "Brush Off." In the Senior general group, Vera Elliott won first place with "Goin' a Goosin'," and Harold Warner honorable mention for his "Death Valley Forty Niners." Harry Peters of Santa Ana won first place with his sound film, "Canada Vacations Unlimited." Senior Scenario first place went to Leland Hansen of Anaheim, who also won the sweepstakes for "From this Day Forward." Honorable mention was won by Alva Fitzgerald, Santa Ana, for "Embarrassed Hitchhiker."
Out-of-town movie club members attended from the Long Beach Cinema club, Los Angeles 8mm club and El Serino Movie club of Los Angeles.
The club meets at studio A-1, Santa Ana Junior college on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, at 8 p.m., and guests are always welcome. Pictures receiving honorable mention will be shown at the next meeting.
St. Agnes Guild Meets With Mrs. Harrison
St. Agnes Guild of St. Michael's Episcopal church met Monday evening in the home of Mrs. T. E. Harrison, 418 S. Ohio st.
Directress Verna Hopkins presided at the business meeting, which was mainly concerned with discussing plans for the Fall Fashion Show. This event will replace the spring show given in previous years by the Guild, and will be presented in September at the Betty Rose Shop of Anaheim will be shown.
New members introduced and welcomed into the Guild were Mrs. J. Greedus, Virginia Stedronsky and Edith Fortront.
Mrs. Harrison Hopkins, Mrs. Roy Carleton and Mrs. G. E. Handsfield were hostess for the tea following the business session. Mrs. Harry Horn will be hostess to the Guild in her home, 720 N. Helena, when it meets next, on Monday, March 23.
Ladies Auxiliary To Canton Santa Ana No. 18 Patriarchs Militant Install Officers
Installation of officers was held by the ladies' auxiliary to Canton Santa Ana No. 18 Patriarchs Militant, at the Odd Fellows temple in Santa Ana, with Miss Lois Curliss, president of the Department Association of Ladies' Auxiliary, as installing officer. She was assisted by department association officers, Hazel V. Ryan, officer of the guard, as adjutant: Nora Goslin, color sergeant as aldee; Eva Oliver, vice president as chaplain; Eleanor Cooper, hostin Rodda, C. P. Wurtz, Bill Johnson, Carl Cooper; captain, Julius Svoss, C. C. Horn and Mel Reynolds; lieutenant, Louis Kemons; E. L. Beaty and Henry Mang, past grand patriarchs; Lillian McLean, P.P., and Lottie Beaty, P.P.; Bonnie Lynn Gobel, assistant hospital matron; Jennie Mae Annn, past president of Rebekah assembly.

Members of Segwick post relief corp presented the auxiliary with an American flag and standard,Gertrude Winans making the presentation, assisted by Meta Caldwell,Ada Paull,,Elizabeth Blicknese,Lillian Mason and Bea Davis as color bearers.Members of the auxiliary and patriarchs militant in uniform stood at attention while Mrs.Winans gave a tribute to the flag. It was accepted by Mrs.Mary Alice Shawlan who thanked the relief corp members in her gracious manner and said the auxiliary would be very proud to use the beautiful flag in their ceremonies.

Mrs.Shawhan presented to Miss Curtiss a golden heart with a monetary gift from the auxiliary.

Selecting the theme, "Fashions You'll See in '53," exciting plans were made amid interesting discussion when clothing merchants of the Anaheim retail division of the chamber of commerce and its representatives met at the chamber rooms to put into motion plans for the fashion to be presented Thursday, March 12.
Retail division chairman, Walter Swanberger of Swanberger's Men's store, and Marie Wilke, official hostess of Anaheim, met with Helen Canton of the Ana Lane Apparel shop, 180 W. Center; Mureal Lakeman and Barbara Gautsche of Clarice's, 219 W. Center; Vera Auest, director of the chamber of commerce; Mrs. Vera Schumacher of the S. Q. R. store; Bernice Athy, Lorene's Mastery shop, 350 W. Center; Claire Larsen of the Betty Rose shop, 224 E. Center; Irene Wright of Loretta's; Ida May Walberg of Walberg's, and Ora Mansfield of the Gay Suzanne shop, 727 N. Los Angeles st.
The fashion show will be held in the Fremont school auditorium and it is estimated that approximately 50 showings will be presented.
St. Boniface Club Pack 173 Visits San Diego Zoo
The rain did not dampen the ardor or spirits of 31 members of the St. Boniface Cub Pack No. 173 when they boarded the streamliner in Santa Ana at 9 a.m. for San Diego on George Washington's birthday.

St. Boniface Club Pack 173 Visits San Diego Zoo
The rain did not dampen the ardor or spirits of 51 members of the St. Boniface Cub Pack No. 173 when they boarded the streamliner in Santa Ana at 9 a.m. for San Diego on George Washington's birthday.
The Cubs were accompanied by the chairman, J. Nell LeVecke, a representative leader, David Lypps brother of one of the den mothers, and six den mothers who personally conducted the cubs in attendance.
Arriving at San Diego at 11 a.m. they went to Balboa park, had a fine basket lunch and proceeded to the zoo where the cubs saw every conceivable animal and reptile in its natural habitat.
The weather withheld its inclementy until 3 p.m. when they started back on the streamliner for home, a happy group of cubs.
Those who made the trip besides the leaders were, Den No. 1 with Mrs. V. G. Probst the den mother and her assistant, Mrs. Lettrell, Den Chief, Larry Mack, with cubs, Edward Ostdick, Edward Littrell, Michael Winney, Armando Sanchez, Jerry Padilla, William Lawrence.

Mrs. G. W. Alden Has Note from Mrs. Eisenhower
Some of the famous charm of the United States' first lady arrived in Anaheim yesterday in the form of a personal note to Mrs. George W. Alden, 510 S. Citron st.
Mrs. Alden had worked hard during the presidential election campaign for the candidacy of rick.

Anaheim IOOF To Honor August Fitz At Reception
The IOOF lodge of Anaheim will hold a reception honoring August Fitz, grand herald of the Grand lodge of California, Friday evening in the IOOF hall.
Henry Mang will act as master of ceremonies; Maude Adams, musician, and escorts are C. C. Horn, noble grand No. 199, and Pat Senter, noble grand of Lois Rebekah No. 268. Guard of honor is Canton Santa Ana No. 18 and visiting chevollers.
