Southern Counties Gas Co. Seeks Right to Increase Line Capacity
WASHINGTON UP — Three California utilities Wednesday asked the power commission for authority to increase capacity of their natural gas pipeline systems to handle additional supplies they expect to receive from El Paso Natural Gas Co., San Francisco, wants to build about 170 miles of pipeline to increase by 151,730,000 cubic feet daily the capacity of its line from the Arizona-California boundary near Topock, Ariz., to Milpitas, Calif.
Southern California Gas Co. and Southern Counties Gas Co. of California, both of Los Angeles, jointly proposed construction of about 78 miles of pipeline to increase by 151,700,000 cubic feet daily the capacity of their line from near Blythe, Calif., to a point near Santa Fe Springs in Southern California. Estimated cost is $7,482,194.
Pacific Gas and Electric also proposes as part of its project to extend service to Bordon, Calif., supplement service to the Bakersfield area and increase the capacity of its line from Milpitas to its East Bay distribution system. Estimated cost of its entire project is $26,981,851.
El Paso Natural Gas now has an application pending before the FPC for authority to construct facilities to supply additional gas to the three California companies and other customers.

Home-Maker's Forum
Homemakers: Anaheim merchants are offering you a golden opportunity to stretch that dollar as Anaheim's famous semiannual Dollar days return to this city Friday and Saturday. This is a really great sales event that you, the family purchasing agent, cannot afford to miss.
If you can make arrangements to be downtown tomorrow, preferably when the stores open, you will find sensational savings to be made in the purchase of children's clothing, men's and women's apparel, yard goods, gift items, shoes, beauty aids, and housewares of all kinds. These special values will be picked up fast because Anaheim women have learned from past experience that dollars spent during Dollar days go further than at any other time during the year.

'Kiss of Death'
Murder Hunt Turns Southwest
OAKLAND UP—A police hunt for Hildegard Garni Pelton, 32-year-old German war bride wanted for questioning in the "kiss of death" slaying of her ex-husband, turned into the Southwest Wednesday.
Officers said Mrs. Pelton had been traced to Los Angeles, where she was believed to have boarded a bus for Oklahoma City. Police here and in Texas were alerted after a woman answering her description was reported seen in Amarillo.
William Pelton, 20, an Army veteran, was found shot to death Sunday night on a lonely road near Niles, Calif. The print of a woman's lips was found on his forehead.
Neighbors said the Peltons, who recently divorced, quarreled at his home Sunday evening.
Champion Pines For Old Life; Seeks Damages
LOS ANGELES UP—In the good old days, Champion York of San Miguel led a happy life, performing at dog shows and entertaining females of his species for a substantial fee.
But now, says his mistress, Champion York is a nervous wreck, frightened by noises to such an extent he can't be shown and even has lost interest in the female of the species.
His owner, Miss Norma Serviss, blames it all on a bulldozer blade which fell on the car in which she and the champ were riding in September, 1951. She came to court Wednesday to try to collect $3000 from a construction firm for York's neurosis, plus $36,450 for her own injuries and medical expenses.

DOLLAR DAYS
Dollar days are not the hit or miss affairs here that they sometimes are in other towns. In Anaheim, Dollar days are sponsored by the retail division of the chamber of commerce and are planned and prepared by effecting special purchases in spring merchandise especially for the big days, and by earmarking many items from regular stock for Dollar days at substantial reductions. All items are as advertised for the sponsoring agency does not tolerate shoddy or inferior merchandise. Only bonafide values and tremendous savings to the shopper make this event the success it has been year after year.
There is good reason behind all this. According to Walter Swanberger, local clothing store owner and chairman of the group which sponsors Dollar days, "the purpose of Dollar days is to invite people in our city and surrounding districts to the Anaheim shopping center by offering them tremendous values in order to acquaint them with the many advantages of shopping in Anaheim.
Shoppers will find a minimum of shopping hazards encountered in getting to the business district, and will be pleased with the ample amount of free parking space in six parking lots conveniently located adjacent to the stores.
Within an area of a few blocks, there is a complete assortment of merchandise to meet every need and it is sold without city sales tax. The well trained salespeople (who live as well as work in Anaheim) are anxious to serve and make the adjustment problem easy when merchandise has to be returned or exchanged.
Dollars spent in the home town promotes the growth of the whole community and benefit everyone who lives here."
