St. Margaret’s Guild Presents Sparkling Holiday Fashions A woman’s world, bathed in twinkling, sparkling glitter, spiced with delectable, heavenly colors in fashions created in the exquisite imagination only an artist could possess, came into being yesterday afternoon at the Anaheim Ebell clubhouse, when St. Margaret’s Guild, of St. Andrews church, presented their benefit and fashion tea. Holiday and winter cruise creations from some of the foremost designers of the day, were modeled by lovely members of the Guild, and shown through the courtesy of the Mary Millerick shop, with Mrs. John Macloghlin, of Mary Millerick’s as commentator. The holiday mood in fashions was depicted from the very first with a peignoir of white nylon with sparkle embroidery, over a permanently pleated night gown in gay Christmas red, worn by Mrs. Raymond H. Thompson of Fullerton, and perfect to wear on Christmas morning. A pure silk rep, with rectangular stripes of gold and red brought exclamations of delight from the audience, and every women present must have had visions of doing her Christmas shopping in the dashing little “Christmas red” cardigan suit, worn with a five-skin mink scarf. If one costume could be said to be more outstanding than another, it might easily be the stunning Peau D’ Ange, holiday red, can-can dress, fashioned in pure silk and with its little peep-show peti-coat in black nylon ruffles. It’s safe to guess that everyone present secretly pictured herself wearing it. Winter-white, which is becoming increasingly more popular, was shown in an Adele Simpson wool jersey, ideal for winter-resort wear, and a white wool sweater-dress with push-up sleeves, both of which be worn under a coral and white tweed coat. The coat had an interesting and unusual sleeve detail. Missionary Society Has Christmas Party Mrs. Walter Allen, 5671 Vonnie lane, Cypress, entertained at a Christmas party Monday night for the Garnet Howard chapter of the Foreign Missionary society. Twenty members exchanged gifts and a revelation of secret pals was made and special gifts given them. An improvised red brick fireplace set the decor and was accentuated with red tapers about the room. Place favors were gum drop candle holders with tiny lighted candles. Co-hostess was Mrs. Lola Callahan who introduced her houseguest, her mother-in-law from North Platte, Neb., Mrs. Paul Callahan. Other special guests were Mrs. S. S. Rosen, Mrs. R. Sutton, Mrs. Helen Kelly and Mrs. Lloyd Ingalls, the pastor's wife from the Nazarane church in Buena Park. Refreshments in Christmas colors featured chicken and peach and cranberry salads with punch and coffee. Helper's Guild Holds Election And Installation Members of the Helpers' guild of the Episcopal church met Thursday at the parish hall to elect officers and wrap Christmas gifts for patients in the Orange county hospital. New officers for the coming year are Mrs. Frank Garrett, president; Mrs. Preston Turner, vice-president; Mrs. Robert Patrick, secretary; and Miss Winifred Melrose, treasurer. The Rev. Saville officiated with a special installation service. A breath of spring was admitted with a pure Irish linen, white dress, trimmed in imported straw braid in two tones of green and stunningly worn with sparkling green costume jewelery. Dreams of holiday parties were visioned when the imports and originals made their appearance. The French import worn by Mrs. H. C. Wilson, was a two-tone brown cheenile lace, fashioned in a slim line, cocktail-dinner dress. Mrs. Thompson modeled a fabulous French import, with a bell skirt embroidered over-all in pearls, and worn over a silk satin sheath, in the soft, creamy color of off-white. She also modeled an aqua blue original with moulded mat-jersey bodice, and a sequin and nylon horse hair trimmed skirt. Mrs. Norris Lorton was lovely in a mauve-pink, with sequin embroidered imported lace bodice and a very full, nylon tulee skirt. Mauve-pink is a flattering, lovely color, and worn as it was, with rinestone chandelier earrings; it looked like something made from a lovely dream. Striking a deeper tone in color was the imported chantilly lace in royal blue, modeled by Mrs. William Lewis. The interesting new neck line was featured here with its high front and low-cut back. Exquisite costume jewelery was worn with every costume, fabulous in design and adding brilliant, sparkling accents. Bracelets were especially prominent, and are definitely a high-fashion note. This, in deference to the new first lady, Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower, who has a preference for bracelets, and is almost never seen without them. The outstanding hat of the showing was something entirely Lynn Glenn Honored Queen GLAMOUR GIRL CARDIGAN A Gift She Can Wear Gild Presents Fashions new and most stunning. A Howard Hodge creation, it was made with permanently-perfumed rose beads, which alone, is enough to give a lady "heady" ideas. More unusual yet, the beads nestled in a rock garden. Mrs. Thomas Thompson wore the hat with a beautiful black crepe dress with permanently pleated side panels, and a silver blue mink stole. Mrs. Macloghlin was a charming commentator, giving suggestions and ideas from her extensive knowledge of fashion, as she described each costume. From every standpoint the show was a successful endeavor, fulfilling the highest expectations of its sponsors and bringing a delightful afternoon to an audience who went home with a single purpose in mind—business with the head of the family.
