Fighting Gls Provide Theme for FUHS Christmas Play Dec. 18
The Christmas play at Fullerton Union High school, which will be presented free to the public on the evening of Dec. 18, at 8:15 p.m., has as its theme this year GI conversation on the fighting front, near a hospital, in the Korean hills.
The story, written by George Archambault, unfolds memories of home and Christmas, as expressed by lonesome and slightly bewildered boys in the trenches, and its time is Christmas, 1952. With the cast selected recently, practice began last week for three performances to be given on Dec. 18; one at 11 a.m. for Junior College assembly; another at 1:10 for high school assembly and the last in the evening, all at Fullerton Union High school auditorium.
Among those in the cast are Johnny Citso (JC) (Whittier) as Chief; Jim Gardiner as Yank; Don Karr as Hollywood; Dick Ogilvie (JC) (Anaheim) as Colonel; Gail Lucas, Charlie; Mary Lou Nava, Stretcher; Jan Olson, BeBop; Gary Kuenzli, as the

Millions to See 1953 Tournament Of Roses Parade
"The most colorful parade in the 64 year history of the Tournament of Roses" is promised to the million and a half people who will view the New Year's day spectacle in Pasadena in person by the 1800 business and professional men who make up the Tournament of Roses Association.
An additional 46,000,000 people will see the parade on television, in newsreels, and newspapers or hear it described over radio, according to latest estimates by Tournament officials rushing preparations for the traditional New Year's greeting to the world.
Included in the parade will be 60 flower beddecked floats, 20 bands, and more than 200 thoroughbred horses, with some of the top horsemen in the nation and bearing sterling silver trappings worth approximately $1,250,000.
Floats are entered from cities throughout California and the nation, and from three nations, as well as from civic organizations and commercial firms. St. Louis, Missouri, Little Rock, Arkansas, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Portland, Oregon will all be represented by floats made entirely from flowers, as will Mexico, Trinidad, and Japan.
Additional floats, all carrying out the theme of "Melodies in Flowers," will come from Hawthorne, Long Beach, Monterey Park, Tulare, Glendale, San Francisco, Alhambra, Burbank, Inglewood, Huntington Park, Van Nuys, Riverside, South Gate, Temple City, and many others. There will also be an entry from the State of Colorado and from Catalina Island.
