New Electronics Lab Open House Set for Next Wednesday at FJC Inside—New Electronics ... 2-24 Every man who enters the armed services wants a good assignment, and every veteran who returns to school wants to prepare for a field that will grow with the future. How both goals are met in the electronics program at Fullerton Junior College will be seen by the public Wednesday evening, Nov. 19. From 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., the recently completed electronics laboratory will be open to the public, said Robert McCormick, technical trades division chairman, today. The facilities of the whole technical trades division, including its $50,000 worth of equipment, will be on display that evening, said McCormick. In the new electronics laboratory building are included a complete broadcasting studio and control room, a thoroughly equipped shop and laboratory, and much up-to-date technical equipment. That electronics training at Fullerton is advantageous is attested to in the case of Charles Denny, 1952 graduate from Anaheim. Denny has gone to work as an electronics technician at Robertshaw-Fulton in Fullerton. He was a student under the G.I. Bill. The jobs company for which he works now was the one of his choice as a prospective employee. Roughly 60 per cent of the electronics students at Fullerton are realistically preparing for better positions in the service, says Edward N. Summer, electronics instructor. He has letters from several graduates showing that they attained the goal. Most of these same students expect to use their training, after service, in industry. Another 40 per cent of the students are preparing for jobs in industry. Many of these are veterans. Summer points out that the frequent calls for electronics technicians from industry exceed by far the number of graduates available. In the armed services, the electronics jobs are almost without number. Most armament systems, for example, are electronically controlled, explains Sumner. Radar and radio operators of many different kinds are wanted, as well as sound-mixers. The Air Force, in much of its information publicity, urges young men to stay in school and prepare themselves for radio and electronics jobs. Legion Posts Sponsor Hospital Benefit Dance A hospital benefit dance, sponsored by the 20 posts comprising the American Legion council of Orange county, has been set for Saturday evening, Nov. 15 at the Newport Harbor post 291 clubhouse located on W. Permits for 31 Homes Issued Permits for 31 more dwellings in the Eastmont Development Co.'s tract at Arizona and Avocado places were issued today, bringing the total of the development to 104 homes for a total cost of $790,325. The latest permits were for three $6775 homes, 11 $7725 homes, seven $7800 homes and 10 $7600 homes for a total of $235,-900.
