Dassen. Father Maguire Installed New Chaplain of KC Father Maguire, of the St. Catharine's Military Academy, was installed as Knights of Columbus Chaplain last night at their meeting in the KC hall. District Deputy Grand Knight Barney Jordan officiated during the ceremonies. Fr. Maguire in his acceptance address related his early priesthood days in Belgium during World War I, and how they were in hiding most of the time to keep away from the Prussians. He came to U.S. as a young man and his only thought was to return to Belgium to help during the war, but finding peace in the new land, he joined the Navy and became a chaplain. He said he has been a chaplain most of his life. He then spoke on his recent trip to Spain, on how they are coping with communism there. Fr. Maguire believes in his opinion that Father W. J. Berry of the Catholic Welfare Bureau, then was introduced by Lecturer Dr. Joe Ersek. Fr. Berry's address was on "The Knights of the Past," pertaining to the life of St. Paul, the duties of the Knights and to remember the poor souls in our prayers. John Hutain has accepted the call to duty and will leave shortly for boot camp. Refreshments were served by Bob Ryan and his committee. BACKS CAMPBELL KAULBARS Mortuary Phone 3208 251 N. He said that the people of Spain are not what we were told to believe. During the civil war Franco was looked down upon because he accepted help from the fascists, but it was alright for use to accept help from Russia. He continued that in Spain you don't have to be rich to be respected, and that the majority of the people are poor. Father W. J.
