THE PLAN IN BRIEF
Proposes the floating of $2,500,000 in bonds to provide for the construction of two junior high schools, one in the West and one in Anaheim. These will house grades 7, 8 and 9 and will conduct a program especially designed and planned to meet the needs of young adolescents. This will offer students of the Anaheim Union High School district the type of education now being enjoyed by more than half of all the school children in California. It will relieve the pressure of increasing enrollments throughout the district in all schools. The proposed bond issue will provide one completely new junior high school, enlarge the Fremont school, and provide the Anaheim elementary board with sufficient money to build two complete, new elementary schools in areas where they are needed.

Question: HOW RAPIDLY ARE SCHOOL ENROLLMENTS INCREASING IN THE ANAHEIM UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT?
Answer: Elementary school enrollments increased 68% and the high school 31% from 1946 to 1951.
Question: WHY ARE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS BEING RECOMMENDED?
Answer: The establishment of junior high schools will bring in the 6-3-3 plan of organization which is most generally accepted as the best throughout the United States. This means kindergarten through sixth grade as the elementary program to be followed by three years of junior high and three years of senior high school. In this district the elementary will be directed by eight elementary boards; the junior and senior high schools by the high school board. This will relieve the elementary schools of two grades — seventh and eighth. The high school will be relieved of the ninth grade providing room for further growth.
Question: WHY NOT BUILD A SECOND HIGH SCHOOL?
Answer: The cost of duplicating the facilities of the present high school plant would be prohibitive. It would relieve the pressure of enrollment only at the high school. The elementary schools are being pressed the hardest.
6. Question: WHAT WOULD THE $2,500,000 BOND ISSUE PROVIDE?
Answer: A new junior high school west of Anaheim $1,200,000
Equipment 120,000
Purchase of Fremont school and equipment 850,000
Additional building and equipment 230,000
Additional land for enlarging Fremont 100,000
7. Question: IF A PORTION OF THE HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT SHOULD WITHDRAW, WILL PAYS OFF THE BONDS?
Answer: The law provides that a portion of a district will drawing is still responsible for bond payment until all are paid.
8. Question: HOW WILL THE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PLAN HELP IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF INCREASING ENROLLMENTS?
Answer: The junior high school will open in the fall 1954 with a total enrollment of approximately 1,600, i.e., 800 in each school. This will relieve the elementary school districts of responsibility for approximately 1,100 of these who will be the 7th and 8th grades and will relieve the high school of the remainder in the 9th grade.
