We direct attention to the advertisement of the new college at Downey city. Prof. Munroe, whom we had the pleasure of meeting last evening informed us that 125 pupils have already been pledged, sufficient to make the enterprise a success.
The building in which we placed the steam cornsheller Guy Smith and Co., will be finished in eight or ten days.

Rev. W. G. Cowan, former pastor of the Methodist church in this city, now residing in Alhambra, visited with friends in town some days ago.
