F. A. Yungbluth, president of the Anaheim flood control committee, Engineer Lathrop of the Southern Pacific Railroad company, O. E. Steward, E. P. Hapgood, city engineer and George W. Reid went on an inspection trip to the river on Tuesday in an endeavor to estimate the probable cost of repairing the dykes. The consensus of opinion was that it is imperative that the dykes be repaired at once to save thousands of fertile acres from damage by possible floods. The Chamber of Commerce is considering the problem of flood control at its meeting today at Elks club.
Jack Mattis, an Anaheim high graduate two years back, will take the position vacated by Bob Marsh at the Industrial Fuel Supply. Jack will, however, continue his studies at Fullerton junior college for his second year.

State Officials Oppose Proposition 10 as Matter of State’s Welfare
Anaheim Gagetteer
by JOHN S. NEUBAUER
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might—Ecc. 9:10.
LINES-O-TYPE—Lloyd Eckels, Fullerton’s fire chief, is one of Ed Stringer’s greatest boosters. “They (Anaheim) have a swell bunch of firemen who’ll go all out to help a neighbor.” Fullerton and Anaheim may be Northern Orange county’s friendly rivals, but all rivalry is forgotten when it comes to lending a helping hand. Another outstanding example of inter-city cooperation is the establishment of the heliport on the E. W. Moore property that once served as a sand pit and then was used as the Fullerton city dump. Fullerton’s City Engineer Herman Hiltscher and Anaheim’s City Engineer George Holyoke are working hand-in-glove, so to speak, to get the landing strip ready for the helicopters Nov. 1—or Oct. 32 which ever the case may be.
ELECTION—Would you say that Dwight Eisenhower and Adal Stevenson are the guys going “hell bent for election.” Don’t forget to do your part—VOTE on the Tuesday following the first washday in November.
MEMORIUM—Death stilled the hand of Dr. John Truxaw, the kindly little man who ministered to Anaheim and Northern Orange county’s needs since 1910.
SACRAMENTO (AP) — State officials today expressed fear that passage of Proposition 10 on the Nov. 4 election ballot would curb California's participation in national and regional associations.
No. 10, sponsored by Los Angeles pension promoter George H. McLain, would prohibit the appropriation of public funds to any organization engaged in lobbying. McLain has charged the money has been useful to build a powerful political machine.
State Insurance Commissioner John A. Maloney raised the issue at the monthly meeting of Gov. Warren’s Council.
A League of California Cities statement, he said, held California could not be a paying member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners if No. 10 were passed.
He declared that the organization was of substantial help to Californians in securing legislation and withdrawal would not benefit the state.
Frank Durkee, state public works director, said the measure’s passage would also foreclose state participation in highway associations, interstate co-operation commissions and similar organizations.
Dr. Frank Tallman declared No. 10 might also put an end to the practice whereby the state now distributes federal funds to nonprofit, privately-owned mental health agencies which may take an interest in legislation.
Edward Benard, assistant attorney general, said the number of organizations to which California and its agencies belong and which might be affected runs into the hundreds.
James Oakley, Warren's executive secretary, presiding in the governor's absence, said Warren would make a pronouncement on his stand on Proposition 10.
Otherwise, the department deadline for copy, corrections or cancellations is 9:00 am. day publication. We will not be sponsible for more than one correct insertion of any advertisement ordered for more than one time. We reserve the right to accept in full any error by a correct publication of advertisement.

UN Waits for Reply to Massive U.S. Indictment
UNITED NATIONS, N.Y.
The United Nations waited suspense today for Russia's Andromeda Y. Vishinsky to answer the massive American indictment of a country's part in the Korean war His aides said the Soviet foreign minister wouldn't be ready before tomorrow.
Debate on Korea in the general assembly's key political committee has been suspended since last Friday, when U.S. Secretary of State Dean Acheson delivered a three hour "oral white book" accusing Russia of planning, arming and touching off the Korean aggression.
Delegates to the 60 nation committee met briefly yesterday, but adjourned two minutes later when no speakers came forward.
Other countries preferred to waunt until after the Russian has spoken.
The next committee meeting was set for tomorrow afternoon.
There was speculation that Vishinsky may have wanted to cooper with the Kremlin on some of the major policy points in his expected rebuttal of the Acheson charges.

ELECTION—Would you say that Dwight Eisenhower and Adal Stevenson are the guys going "hell bent for election." Don't forget to do your part—VOTE on the Tuesday following the first washday in November.
MEMORIUM—Death stilled the hand of Dr. John Truxaw, the kindly little man who ministered to Anaheim and Northern Orange county's needs since 1910.
Doc will be missed. He had a way in making folks believe they weren't nearly as sick as they thought they were.
Perhaps, Doc Truxaw's most arduous service to his fellows came in the 1918-1919 flu epidemic when everybody and his brother was under the weather.
Doc got little rest in those days. He didn't complain. He kept going. "The folks need me," he said as he drove all over the northern end of the county. His visits were an inspiration.
The Doc was a religious man. He understood and had faith in Divine guidance.
So, now after a long, successful career, the good Doc is called home to his reward. He served mankind well.
TAKE IT EASY—The highway traffic toll mounts. Take it easy. When you drive, drive so that you'll return home as healthy as you left.
SPORTOPIX — Bobby Adams, Anaheim's major leaguer, had his most successful season this year. We told you he'd do right well... Little Jimmy Heffron is hitting his stride. He's really blasting a long ball... Yorba Linda's Bill Bryant's baseball career is hexed. He was playing with Orange and twisted his ankle. It was a bad injury that nearly cost him his foot... Val Welthorn is doing an outstanding job for Danny Rowland's Anaheim Optimista in the Orlando Winter Baseball league. Danny is giving Anaheim young-stars an opportunity to play fast semi-pro ball and it is a worthy contribution to the Anaheim sportscene... Duane Pennington, the Bridgford Packing company apprentice sausagemaker, is glad he isn't-playing collegiate football. "I can get out of bed Monday mornings without the bruises that are the reward of football." He'd like to break into organized baseball, though... Don Hudson is working in Fresno. He has a good job. Baseball scouts say that he is the most likely Orange county kid to make the grade as a major leaguer. That's saying a lot when you consider Russell Heman, the Olive fireball artist, Bert Haysom, Branch Rickey's Santa Ana bonus baby and Santa Ana's Rex Babcock.
NITECAPSULE — Men must work and women weep—that is, if the men don't work.
Otherwise, the department heads heard these reports:
Clifford E. Peterson, State Highway Patrol commissioner: "Our motorists are continuing to kill themselves and others in greater rates each month despite increasing enforcement."
Traffic fatalities in September, he said, increased 16 per cent over September, 1951.
Seth Gordon, state fish and game director: Hunters are still very careless with loaded firearms. During August, game wardens made over 1000 arrests and more than half of those were people with loaded guns in their autos—a violation of state law.
