DEVELOPMENT — The "old home town" is a-growin'! Building permit valuation figures are a barometer of the continued development of Anaheim and its environs. The total dollar value of permits issued so far this year by Homer Wallace and his staff aggregates $4,542,573, indicating that 1952 will be another Anaheim record year. Home building is the largest contributing factor, though commercial and industrial construction is also represented in this bulging figure. Anaheim is literally bursting at its seams. Anaheim is growing. It is a city of more than 17,000 and rapidly becoming part of the great Los Angeles metropolitan area. You can't do too much for the kids. Paul Moran has four of 'em. They keep him so busy that he hasn't had time to do anything about the bees that are making honey in the walls of his home. Motorists Face Record Gas Tax NEW YORK (UP)—U.S. motorists are expected to shell out a whopping 2¼ billion dollars in state and federal gasoline taxes this year—an all-time record. Chief factor in the tax increase is higher gasoline consumption. The estimate is based on a semi-annual tax survey just completed by the American Petroleum Industries committee. The survey shows that state gasoline tax receipts for the first half of 1952 totalled $918,681,000—a gain of 10 per cent over the same period last year. The half-year figure points to the likelihood that state gas taxes will total $1,984,000,000 by the end of 1952. Take that sum and add $804,223,000 in federal gasoline taxes and you get an overall tax bite of $2,788,223,000 for the year. FAYETTEVILLE., Ark.
